Misty Copeland isn’t dancing around her thoughts on Timothée Chalamet’s latest hot take.

She’s responding to recent comments made by the Dune actor, who suggested people aren’t interested in ballet or opera. The dancer is thoughtfully sharing her viewpoint on his statement.

Oh my gosh, you guys, Misty actually said this! She was at some event for Aveeno and was talking about how Marty Supreme reached out to her – her! – to help promote it through her art. She said it’s amazing because, okay, so maybe what she does isn’t mainstream like movies, but it still matters, you know? It’s still culturally important, and she really emphasized that. I just… I can’t even. It’s everything!

Misty Copeland, the first African American woman to become a principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, was part of a campaign for Marty Supreme on Instagram last November. The film’s account shared a photo of her wearing a Marty Supreme jacket alongside a childhood dance photo, highlighting her journey as inspiration to “Dream Big.”

Given that the film portrays Timothée, playing table tennis player Marty Mauser, pursuing his goals with determination despite facing challenges, Misty was surprised by his negative remarks about the arts.

She pointed out that opera and ballet have endured for over four centuries for a good reason. She believes that experiencing these art forms can be transformative, and she’s dedicated her career to making them accessible to more people. Her goal is to help communities recognize and appreciate the value of opera and ballet in our culture.

The author of Firebird explained that his success as an actor, and the opportunities it provides, are thanks to his background in opera and ballet. He believes all art forms – like movies, opera, and ballet – have value and shouldn’t be pitted against each other.

As he promised, Timothée discussed in his February interview with Matthew McConaughey how people experience movies compared to other types of art.

I really respect actors who publicly advocate for keeping movie theaters open,” the 30-year-old explained in a discussion with Variety and CNN’s Actors on Actors. “I wouldn’t want to be in a situation like ballet or opera, where you’re constantly fighting to keep something going even if it’s lost its audience. And I have a lot of respect for people who do work in those fields.”

I was so glad to see that Misty wasn’t alone in responding to Timothée’s thoughts! The Metropolitan Opera really nailed it, though. They took his point and showed exactly what goes into putting on a show – they shared a video highlighting all the incredible people working behind the scenes, from the musicians to the costume and set designers. It was a perfect way to illustrate how much collaboration it truly takes.

The organization posted a video on Instagram on March 5th, starting with a nod to opera and ballet fans. The video then playfully addressed actor Timothée Chalamet, tagging his account.

I’m obsessed with how open she is!

She admitted in June that she’d even consider something extreme – like eating something disgusting daily – if it meant she could look younger. She stated she was seriously considering it.

Kim Kardashian told Allure in July 2022 that she was mostly kidding when she made the comment, but admitted it wasn’t a completely awful idea.

Kim admitted, after some thought, that she’d likely do almost anything for youth, saying she’d even eat something disgusting like poop if someone promised it would make her look younger, even if it meant doing so daily.

She wasn’t sure how much she could eat. “Perhaps just a small bite,” she said. “I definitely couldn’t manage a full bowl.”
