MLB The Show 25 Skips PS4, Xbox Game Pass in Milestone Entry

For the first time in several years, players of MLB The Show 25 on PS5 will not face an unfair situation. Previously, this game was available for free with Xbox Game Pass, which is unusual given it’s developed by Sony’s subsidiary San Diego Studio. However, this won’t happen this time around.

Indeed, this year marks a significant shift for the series, as it’s finally bidding farewell to the PS4 platform. Beginning March 18th, players can enjoy the sim on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Early Access will be granted to those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition from March 14th. Regarding the Nintendo Switch 2, we’re still awaiting any updates.

In 2025, MLB The Show will mark an impressive milestone – its 20th anniversary. This achievement recognizes twenty years of baseball tradition, groundbreaking developments, and cherished moments that have left a lasting impact on baseball enthusiasts globally, as stated by Ramone Russell on the PS Blog.

For a unique milestone shared by San Diego Studio and PlayStation Studios, MLB The Show 25 introduces an exceptional trio as its cover athletes for the very first time: Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz, and Gunnar Henderson.

On the fourth of February, I’ll be getting my first glimpse at the gameplay trailer! After that, I can expect weekly updates. Plus, pre-orders for the game will also start on the same day! Can’t wait!

Previously released game MLB The Show 24 drew criticism due to alterations implemented in its widely appreciated Team Building mode, Diamond Dynasty.

To prevent the issue of escalating power dominance throughout the seasons in these game modes, the developer opted to connect cards with specific sets. Consequently, this setup allowed for 99-rated players to be accessible from the beginning, albeit requiring the user to acquire a fresh team of players for each new season.

The evaluation was quite unfavorable, and San Diego Studio decided to fundamentally overhaul the entire system towards the end of last year, guaranteeing that it won’t reappear in MLB The Show 25.

Previously, they also hinted at some upcoming game features to quell the fans’ dissatisfaction.

Deepen the player’s journey before being drafted, and return control to how a player develops and grows in new and interesting ways.
