Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season Two Shares First Look at Godzilla’s Return

The second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will premiere on Apple TV on February 27th of next year. The show continues to follow scientists studying massive creatures, or kaiju, as the world faces increasing chaos. The first season ended with the team returning from the Hollow Earth to find themselves on Skull Island, and the new trailer for season two hints at the return of Kong and introduces new, dangerous kaiju. Fans were hoping to see Godzilla again, and Apple TV has confirmed that he will be appearing in the upcoming season.

A new trailer for season two of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters shows Godzilla rising from the depths, signaling his return. At the end of the last season, Godzilla entered the Hollow Earth and battled another monster threatening humanity. Given his ability to move between worlds, it wasn’t surprising to see him reappear, though some fans expected the focus to shift entirely to Kong, the ruler of Skull Island. While it’s not official yet, fans might get to see Godzilla and Kong face off again before the next movie comes out. You can watch the trailer below to get a first look at Godzilla.

What Lies Ahead For The MonsterVerse?

AppleTV has offered a preview of what’s coming in the second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The story continues with the fate of Monarch – and the entire world – uncertain. The season will bring heroes and villains back together, this time on Kong’s Skull Island, and introduce a new village and a rising Titan from the ocean. Past events will have consequences in the present, complicating relationships between allies and enemies, all while the threat of another massive Titan attack looms.

Apple TV+ isn’t limiting the MonsterVerse to just the ‘Monarch’ series; another spin-off show is also being developed. Although details are still under wraps, there’s talk that it will explore the backstory of Lee Shaw, with Russell Wyatt reprising his role. And the massive monsters won’t be staying on streaming for long, as Legendary plans to bring the MonsterVerse back to theaters in 2027.

The next movie in the Godzilla vs. Kong series, currently titled Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, is set to hit theaters and will feature both iconic monsters together again. While the plot is still under wraps, there are many creatures from the original Japanese films that the studio could potentially include in the MonsterVerse.
