Capcom released a performance patch for Monster Hunter Wilds on January 27, 2026, fixing the stability, framerate, and bug problems PC players had been experiencing since the game launched last year.
After being in the wild for a few days, the patch seems to have done the trick.
Players are reporting significant performance improvements for Monster Hunter Wilds on PC, leading to a halt in negative reviews on Steam, according to reports from X user @Okami13_.
Okami13_ checked the latest Monster Hunter Wilds patch on Steam to see how well it improved the game’s performance, and found that it has.
- Better 1% lows for smoother gameplay with less hitching and stutter.
- Lower VRAM usage (10+ GB -> 7.5GB).
- Higher FPS in some cases.
- CPU optimizations.
- High-res texture pack is actually usable now.
- Lowered the install size by 45GB with texture pack.
- Some users report that their new frame rate WITHOUT FG = old frame rate WITH FG.
- More graphics options to tweak.
Okami13_ also found that the bug in the DLC Checker system, which was causing significant framerate drops, has been resolved.
Interestingly, players like DeckWizard on YouTube are finding that the recent PC performance patch has made the game stable enough to play smoothly on the Steam Deck.
By adjusting the game’s graphics and using a $7 performance-boosting app on the Steam Deck, DeckWizard managed to achieve frame rates between 30 and 60 FPS.
While you’ll likely need to lower the graphics settings to Medium or Low to get smooth performance, the fact that Monster Hunter Wilds runs on the Steam Deck – even though it’s not officially supported – demonstrates a significant improvement in how well the game runs on PCs.
Granted, the PC performance patch is not entirely well-received.
A Reddit user, @Unreal_NeoX, has found that the PC version of Monster Hunter Wilds is still limited by its CPU, preventing it from running as smoothly as it could. This means the processor is the main factor holding back performance.

While the new settings offer a small improvement to the CPU bottleneck, they don’t eliminate it. Even with the CPU settings at their lowest, the graphics card isn’t able to perform at its maximum potential.
To get the best performance from this update, especially with Smart Access Memory (SAM) turned on, Unreal_NeoX suggests updating your computer’s BIOS, graphics card driver, and chipset driver.
Monster Hunter Wilds’ road to performance redemption is hitting the home stretch
Overall, this patch has significantly improved how well Monster Hunter Wilds runs on PCs, though there are still a few minor issues to address.
The good news is that this isn’t the only improvement coming to the game. Monster Hunter Wilds will get one last big update to the core game in February 2026.
As announced at the December 2025 Monster Hunter Showcase, the final major update for Monster Hunter Wilds will improve performance by optimizing the game for both CPUs and GPUs. It will also simplify 3D model details at a distance, reducing the strain on graphics cards.
We’re happy to announce this performance improvement will be available on all platforms – including Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
The February update will add a tougher version of Arkveld, the main monster in Monster Hunter Wilds. This enhanced Arkveld will be the most difficult challenge in the core game, similar to how Arch-Tempered Nergigante functioned in Monster Hunter World.
We’re eager to see if the latest update will finally allow Monster Hunter Wilds to perform at its best on both PC and consoles. We’ll be watching closely for the release of this final update, expected in February 2026, to find out.
