Capcom recently revealed details about the third update for Monster Hunter Wilds during a pre-Tokyo Game Show 2025 presentation. The update is scheduled to be released on September 29, 2025.
This presentation revealed details about the game’s upcoming collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV. Players will hunt Omega Planetes, a powerful monster based on a famous boss from Final Fantasy.
This new update, Title Update 3, is shaping up to be even more exciting than we first saw in the Gamescom preview.
The update introduces exciting new content, including the Dark Knight and Pictmancer jobs from Final Fantasy XIV. Players can also challenge a more powerful version of Nu Udra, collect a wealth of cosmetic items from the Omega Planetes battles, and enjoy new event quests and downloadable content, among other additions.
Here’s a round-up of all the news on Monster Hunter Wilds’ 3rd Title Update.
Everything coming in Monster Hunter Wilds’ 3rd title update
The next update for Monster Hunter Wilds will feature a special quest introducing Alpha and Omega, two characters making an appearance from the popular game Final Fantasy XIV.
They need your help to stop Omega Planetes from invading your world and blowing it to space dust.
Omega Planetes is shaping up to be a really challenging fight. Players will face a relentless attack of lasers, missiles, and powerful punches, and will need to be at their best to survive.
Defeating this powerful robot enemy will give players the resources to create unique gear inspired by Final Fantasy XIV.
This equipment features the Bale Armor, a popular gear set for the Dark Knight class that was added in the Shadowbringers expansion of Final Fantasy XIV.
This armor includes a special ability called “Soul of the Dark Knight.” When activated, it grants players “The Blackest Night,” which creates a shield by sacrificing some health. If an enemy attacks the shield, the player automatically counters.
A new Great Sword, Shadowbringer, will be released alongside the Bale Armor. It has a unique, always-active ability that increases your attack power.

You can also craft the Soul of the Pictomancer using materials from Omega Planetes. This item allows you to use the abilities of the Pictomancer Job, which is new in the Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail expansion.
Use enchanted paint and a brush to create artwork that springs to life and battles your foes with powerful magic.
You can activate the Soul of the Pictomancer and Bale Armor’s “The Blackest Night” abilities just like Akuma’s abilities from the Street Fighter VI update in Monster Hunter Wilds – either by selecting them in your item bar or using custom shortcuts in the radial menu.

Besides the initial reward, players participating in the Final Fantasy XIV collaboration will also receive a special costume for their Seikret that makes it look like a chocobo. They can also dress their Palico in Morbol armor, and unlock a variety of pendants, gestures, hunter profile backgrounds, and poses.
The presentation will now cover the additional content included in the upcoming third title update, which is detailed below.
- Arch-Tempered Nu Udra
- New DLC gestures.
- Cosmetic DLC Pack 3 which will include new cosmetics, quest completion animations, music, Pop-up tent items, and more.
- New Event quests and Challenge quests.
- A new autumn event called Dreamspell.

The presentation ended with a preview of the fourth major update for Monster Hunter Wilds, scheduled to release in December 2025.
The latest preview shows players will soon battle Gogmazios, the ultimate boss from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
This incredibly powerful Elder Dragon is known as one of the most challenging bosses in the game series. It’s notoriously strong, covers the battlefield with oil to immobilize players, and can instantly defeat even well-equipped characters with its devastating laser beams.
Besides the new Gogmazios content, the fourth major update will also include general gameplay enhancements, more things to do after finishing the main story, and a special event with a winter theme.
Congratulations, Capcom, you’ve gotten me to care about Monster Hunter Wilds again

I was initially disappointed with the difficulty of Monster Hunter Wilds, and I said so. But after learning all the details of this new update, I’m now really looking forward to playing it again!
Omega Planetes is a fantastic recreation of the Omega boss battle from Final Fantasy XIV, and it looks amazing. The new gear designs are incredible, and it’s wonderful to see Gogmazios return to the main Final Fantasy series after all this time.
I’m really excited for the next Monster Hunter Wilds update on September 29, 2025, so I can get back to hunting and destroy Omega Planetes!
Monster Hunter Wilds is available for purchase on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
