Moo Deng’s Adorable Encounter with White Lotus Stars Will Melt Your Heart!

Every murder mystery deserves a cozy animated character.

In a delightful encounter, actors Sarah Catherine Hook and Sam Nivola from the show “White Lotus” had the pleasure of meeting a charming, fitting celebrity – a 7-month-old hippo named Moo Deng.

On February 25th, Max and HBO posted a video on their Instagram featuring the actors. In this video, they traveled to Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand, which happens to be where their ongoing third season is set. Their purpose was to encounter the internet’s most adorable sensation – Moo Deng, who gained popularity last year due to a series of videos shared by the zoo online. The video started with Sarah, aged 29, expressing her delight at Sam’s eagerness to meet Moo Deng.

She expressed her excitement upon learning that we would be visiting this place, and then Sam playfully commented, “I hit the gym specifically to impress Moo.

In their latest season of the Emmy-winning drama, the two characters portrayed by Lochlan and Piper Ratliff, together with Patrick Schwarzenegger as Saxon Ratliff, eventually caught sight of a pygmy hippo roaming its expansive enclosure after noticing a few other animals first.

Sam, who’s 21 years old, brought up Moo’s viral fame, wondering aloud to his fellow actor, “I wonder if she realizes who she is?” They tried out their query by calling her name, and the animal playfully scampered towards them in response. Given that Moo Deng is a globally recognized star as well as an up-and-coming singer, it was evident that she recognizes her influence.

As an overly enthusiastic fan, I too caught sight of that charming hippo, affectionately known as “Bouncy Pig.” She was enjoying her meal alongside her beloved family. Little did we know, the thrilling game of “Truth or Fiction” would soon unveil the fascinating tale of her lineage!

The delightful video concluded by the actors extending an invitation to Moo Deng for the White Lotus season three premiere on Feb. 16. Sarah mentioned they’d arrange a glamour team to ensure she looked her best at the event. Regrettably, Moo Deng didn’t acknowledge their invitation, but in return, the Thailand zoo presented them with a shirt bearing the pygmy hippo’s distinctive expression.

Though Moo Deng may be absent from the main setting of the show, “White Lotus” boasts an impressive roster of renowned actors. Continue reading to discover which stars make an appearance in this new season…

Wow, I’m absolutely smitten! The legendary performer, famously known as just Lisa, has truly outdone herself. From slaying global stages as a member of the phenomenal K-pop sensation, Blackpink—with Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé—to stealing the show in the White Lotus staff uniform for her sensational debut as Mook… It’s like watching magic unfold!

It appears that Lucius Malfoy, the character from Harry Potter, seems to have missed his train to Hogwarts and ended up at The White Lotus resort instead. Intriguingly, the actor who played him is making a comeback on screen, this time as a snobbish father figure named Timothy Ratliff. He’s described as a successful businessman enjoying a vacation with his spouse and three kids.

Isaac has recently been seen on television shows such as Robot Chicken, The Great, and Sex Education (with his White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood).

Instead of shouting upon encountering it, you might recognize Posey, who takes the role of Timothy’s wife Victoria Ratliff, from various films like “Superman Returns,” “Blade: Trinity,” “Scream 3” and “Dazed and Confused.” She’s also had short appearances on television shows such as “Parks and Recreation,” “New Girl,” “Portlandia,” and “Search Party.

However, ardent enthusiasts of romantic comedies would recognize her as Patricia Eden, the girlfriend of Tom Hanks’ character, Joe Fox, from the 1998 beloved film “You’ve Got Mail.

You might recognize him primarily from family snapshots as the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, but he has previously established his own reputation on screen through appearances in shows like Gen V, The Terminal List, and The Staircase, before taking on the role of Saxon Ratliff in season three.

Before playing the role of Piper, the Ratliffs’ daughter, Hook had already dabbled in horror and fantasy genres. Previously, she portrayed Debbie Glatzel in “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It”, Juliette Fairmont in “First Kill”, and Elena Milak in “Monsterland”.

Apart from recognizing her in the 2024 remake of “Cruel Intentions” as Caroline Merteuil, you might be familiar with her from Ryan Murphy’s film universe where she portrayed Catherine Allday Davis in “Impeachment: American Crime Story,” a series depicting the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Nivola, currently in a relationship with Iris Apatow (daughter of Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann), completes the Ratliff family as Lochlan in his latest role. However, prior to his Thai adventure, he was seen in a series centered around a wealthy beach family: “The Perfect Couple”, where he portrayed Will Winbury, the son of Greer and Tag Winbury, characters played by Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber respectively. Interestingly, he shared screen time with Meghann Fahy, known for her role in “White Lotus” and Daphne Sullivan on season two of HBO’s “The Perfect Couple”, who later played Merritt Monaco in the same series.

I’ve had the privilege of collaborating alongside Adam Driver in “White Noise,” sharing the screen with Bradley Cooper in “Maestro,” and working together with Anne Hathaway on “With/In.

Absolutely, viewers of “White Lotus” would recall Rothwell as Belinda, the spa guru from Maui in season one. Interestingly, she will reappear in the same role for season three. Moreover, this talented actress has made appearances in shows like “Insecure”, “Wonka”, “A Year and Change”, and “Love, Simon”. To top it all off, she showcased her comedic talents by writing for “Saturday Night Live” from 2014 to 2015.

Previously known for her role as Iron Man’s ally, this actress is now joining forces to play the character Kate in The White Lotus. In her more recent appearances, she took on the roles of Dinah Donahue in Palm Royale and Grace Kennedy-Sampson in Jupiter’s Legacy.

The actress well-known from the Gilded Age era, who has also appeared in shows like The Sinner, Fargo, and The Leftovers, will be playing the character Laurie this season. She will join her friends Kate and Jaclyn for a girls’ trip to Thailand with them.

In her role as Jaclyn on The White Lotus, Monaghan is indeed a TV personality, but her stardom extends beyond the small screen. She’s previously appeared on True Detective, Bad Monkey, Messiah, and The Path. On the silver screen, she’s played Julia in Mission: Impossible – Fallout and Angie Genaro in Gone Baby Gone.

You’ll have a sense of validation, realizing that you’ve seen him before – Goggins indeed resembles someone familiar. Besides acting in two movies directed by Quentin Tarantino (as Billy Crash in “Django Unchained” and Sheriff Chris Mannix in “The Hateful Eight”), he is also recognized for playing Boyd Crowder on the TV series “Justified” from 2010 to 2015.

In the third season, a free-spirited character named Chelsea, portrayed by an English actress, enters the cast. This actress is primarily recognized for her role as Aimee Gibbs on Netflix’s “Sex Education,” and she has also made appearances in “Seize Them!” and “Daddy Issues.” However, in this new role, she embarks on a romantic journey with Rick Hatchett, played by Goggins.

Looking back, my acting journey spans over five decades, beginning with the role of Grounded God in 1975. More recently, I had the privilege to bring Prani Chiraanan to life in the series, In Family We Trust, in 2018.

This individual, who is both a skilled singer and a veteran of the military, boasts acting roles in movies such as “Mechanic: Resurrection,” “Skin Trade,” and “Paradox.” In addition, he played the character Pao on the TV show “Farang.

Should the 13 minutes not be sufficient for you to identify the German actor, let us jog your memory. He portrayed Rudolf Höss in “The Zone of Interest”, Reinhold Gräf in “Babylon Berlin”, and Georg Elser in “13 Minutes”.
