Morena Baccarin first gained attention as Vanessa Carlyle in the 2016 film Deadpool, marking her entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, her character, like many female love interests before her, was killed off early in Deadpool 2, which disappointed both Baccarin and fans.
Morena Baccarin recently spoke with Variety about her experience with the Deadpool franchise. Reflecting on the past decade since filming the first movie, she expressed her surprise at its success and how much fun the original was to make. While her role, along with those of other supporting characters, was smaller in Deadpool & Wolverine, there were suggestions of a possible development in her character’s relationship with Wade Wilson. Baccarin hopes to have a more significant role in future installments, but acknowledged that Deadpool & Wolverine focused on the comedic dynamic between the two leads.
What Comes Next For Baccarin Might Be Even Cooler Than Deadpool

Besides her role on Van Helsing, Morena Baccarin will also appear in the upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe adaptation on Amazon, playing The Sorceress who guards Castle Grayskull. Baccarin shared that He-Man was a significant part of her childhood, as she and her brother were big fans. She was thrilled with her costume – including the wig and contact lenses – and excited to see how her character fits into the bigger picture of the series. She believes her contribution was just one piece of a much larger project.
She also shared a glimpse of Nicolas Galitzine’s preparation for his role as He-Man. She was amazed by his dedication, saying she saw him on set after months of training and couldn’t believe how much effort he’d put in.
