Dakota Mortensen is setting the record straight.
A star from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, who shares a 21-month-old son named Ever with his ex-wife, Taylor Frankie Paul, denied rumors that he relapsed and was using substances at the show’s recent season three reunion.
Dakota admitted in a recent Instagram video that she needed a break because she was having a hard time. She also described the reunion as a disaster.
Seeing videos online that falsely claim I’m using drugs or have relapsed really makes me think. Honestly, one of the few things I’m proud of is being a father to Ever and maintaining my sobriety.
Let me tell you, this year has been a real test. I’m 32, and honestly, juggling tough life moments while staying committed to my sobriety has been incredibly challenging. It’s a journey, and it’s not always easy, but it’s one I’m dedicated to.
He shared that he’s proud of maintaining his sobriety, especially considering the incredibly difficult challenges he’s faced. He explained that being sober while navigating these situations is new for him, which makes it particularly challenging, as he’s experiencing them with a clear mind for the first time.
Dakota explained that she feels constantly on edge, like she’s always bracing for danger. She also shared that she’s remained sober, but people around her seem to believe otherwise, which is really upsetting to her.
Dakota said he didn’t want to participate, explaining that he’d received a legal notice from someone who wouldn’t be named, which stopped him from talking openly about what happened during the season.
He admitted that when he struggles to explain things, he apologizes. He’s never been in a situation like this before and feels completely terrified and unprepared, admitting he’s afraid of saying the wrong thing.
Dakota finished the video by thanking his supporters and offering a final message to those who doubted him.
The TikToker addressed some rumors about the December 4th reunion show, stating he didn’t ask the cast of Sister Wives to leave before he came on stage, and he wasn’t aware Taylor’s parents would be there.
He responded sarcastically to the suggestion that he could have stopped the girls from performing, saying, “Thank you for thinking I have that kind of power!” He clarified that he had no control over the situation, explaining he didn’t know the parents would be present or that any of it would happen. He described the whole thing as a complete surprise – a “blindside.”

Dakota finished the video by thanking his supporters and addressing his critics one final time.

I really appreciate everyone who reached out to see how I was doing, especially those who didn’t add to the negativity. To those who were unkind, I hope you never have to experience something truly difficult.
