Jessi Ngatikaura is opening up about an extremely painful memory.
During the reunion special for season three of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Jessi complimented her fellow cast member, Mikayla Matthews, on her progress throughout the show. She specifically acknowledged Mikayla’s work overcoming past trauma, which was revealed in season two when Mikayla shared she had experienced sexual abuse as a child until the age of 15.
Jessi, 33, shared during the December 4th reunion special that she really connected with Mikayla’s story because she knew it was true. Watching it unfold and seeing Mikayla’s inner thoughts and feelings made it especially relatable for her.
Jessi, who shares five-year-old Jagger and two-year-old Jovi with her husband Jordan Ngatikaura, shared that watching Mikayla deal with her own difficult experiences on Mormon Wives made her recognize something similar in her own life.
She shared that she’s been in therapy to process her relationship with Jordan, and during those sessions, she remembered being sexually assaulted when she was 19 years old.
The reality star, who previously revealed an affair with Marciano Brunette from Vanderpump Villa during season three, explained that remembering this painful experience added to the difficulties she was already facing in her marriage.
Jessi shared that this experience was the root of many of her problems, leading to emotional detachment, distancing herself from others, and feeling inadequate. She added that while she and Jordan were already facing difficulties in their relationship, this issue significantly worsened them.
Jessi found herself relating to Mikayla’s struggle of intimacy with husband Jace Terry.

It was so good to see Mikayla at the reunion, and I completely related to what she was going through with Jace. She was telling me how strange it felt – she doesn’t want him to even touch her, and it’s not his fault, but her body just…reacts. It’s not just in her head, you know? She has four kids with him – Beckham, who’s eight, Haven and Tommie, who are five and three, and little Lottie, who’s only five months old – and it’s just…a lot. I really understood what she meant about it being more than just feelings.
While dealing with challenges in their own marriage, Jessi shared that watching Mikayla and Jace grow as a couple felt encouraging and helpful.
“It really hit home for me,” she added. “I understand fully how that can feel.”
Before the third season of Mormon Wives became available on Hulu, Jessi told TopMob News that she and her husband had reconciled after she admitted to infidelity, but cautioned that rebuilding their relationship would be a process.
As she put it, “It’s not going to something that’s just amazing overnight.”
