Mormon Wives to Resume Production After Taylor Frankie Paul Incident

The cameras are going back up in Utah. 

Filming for season five of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was temporarily stopped in March after an incident between cast member Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex, Dakota Mortensen. However, TopMob News has confirmed that production is starting up again soon.

We still don’t know when filming will resume or what will happen with Taylor and Dakota’s characters on the show.

Production on the fifth season of the Hulu show stopped in mid-March after police began investigating a reported argument between Taylor and Dakota, who are parents to a 2-year-old son. The incident allegedly happened in late February. A police spokesperson told People magazine that they were investigating claims of domestic assault made by both individuals.

Shortly after the recent break, video surfaced of a previous fight from 2023 involving Taylor and Dakota. During that incident, Taylor’s daughter with her former partner, Tate Paul, was hurt. Taylor had previously admitted guilt to aggravated assault related to the 2023 fight.

Shortly after the video came out, ABC announced they were cancelling Taylor’s season of The Bachelorette, which had already been filmed and was scheduled to begin airing on March 22nd.

Following the release of a recent video, Disney Entertainment has decided to postpone the new season of The Bachelorette. Their priority right now is supporting the affected family, a spokesperson for Disney Entertainment told TopMob News.

The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office decided not to press charges against Taylor, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. This decision came just weeks after investigations by both the Draper and West Jordan Police Departments were completed.

The news release stated that because the defendant is a well-known figure, several lawyers reviewed the case.

After hearing the news, Taylor spoke about the difficult realities of recovering and moving forward.

She acknowledged there’s still a long journey ahead, but in a message posted in April, she also expressed immense relief at finally escaping a deeply painful and seemingly endless situation. She described feeling repeatedly hurt and vulnerable, like someone intentionally worsened her suffering, yet she’s somehow managed to survive and persevere.

The 31-year-old also referenced her faith.

She believes a higher power played a role in a positive outcome, explaining that she received the news all charges were dropped exactly seven weeks after waiting, on the seventh day. She interprets this timing as a meaningful sign related to divine plans.

Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen began dating while appearing on the show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and had a son, Ever, together in 2024. However, their relationship ended because Dakota was unfaithful.

A representative from the Draper City Police Department told People magazine they are investigating a possible domestic assault. According to the police, both people involved have accused each other of wrongdoing.
