IGN Fan Fest has kicked off, bringing with it a bunch of new trailers for upcoming games and movies based on video games. A highlight is the new trailer for New Line Cinema’s Mortal Kombat 2, which hits theaters across the US this spring. It features even more of the classic characters you know and love!
The conflict features several key matchups: Noob Saibot, formerly Bi Han, battling Scorpion, and Kung Lao facing off against Liu Kang. Meanwhile, Shao Kahn is predictably causing chaos and declaring his dominance over Earthrealm, much to Kitana’s dismay. Amidst all this, Johnny Cage is just trying to make it through, thankfully with the support of his friends.
Karl Urban is a natural fit for the role of Cage, given his previous work in shows like The Boys and films like Dredd. He brings a special charm to the character, who’s known for being both funny and a skilled fighter. The casting director deserves praise for assembling a great supporting cast, including newcomers like Jade.
The movie Mortal Kombat 2 will be released in theaters on May 8th, after being postponed from last year. Keep an eye out for more information and trailers before it comes out.
