Okay, so Mortal Kombat 2 is still a ways off – May 15th, 2026 feels like forever! But that hasn’t stopped them from adding content to other Mortal Kombat games. They just announced Kitana, as she appears in the new movie, is coming to Mortal Kombat Mobile. It’s cool timing, since they just dropped a pretty big update for the mobile game anyway, and she’s joining a huge list of playable characters.
Kitana from *Mortal Kombat 2* is joining *MK Mobile* on November 12th. Her look is based on the movie, but her fighting moves will be similar to those from *Mortal Kombat 11*. In *MK Mobile*, she’ll be able to break through defenses, prevent opponents from switching characters, and increase her own critical hit damage. She’ll be available in the new “Season of Screams” Kombat Pass in November, and players who purchase the pass will unlock her early.
Kitana’s classic look from *Mortal Kombat 2* is already available in *Mortal Kombat 1*, having been added back in May. Her costume, along with similar outfits for Johnny Cage, Shao Kahn, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion, appeared shortly before the movie tie-in content was removed. Some players thought these costumes were released early to finish support for the original game and encourage sales of the *Definitive Edition*, which launched on the same day. This fueled rumors that future downloadable content for *Mortal Kombat 1* had been canceled, though only the end of support was officially confirmed.
It’s currently unknown if the mobile game *Mortal Kombat Mobile* will add more MK2 fighters. The game, which is a free-to-play version of the popular fighting series, has been consistently updated since around the time *Mortal Kombat X* launched in April 2015, and has gained a huge number of playable characters over the years. These additions include characters from other franchises, like Spawn, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, The Terminator, Homelander, The Joker, and Jason Voorhees. The game even features versions of Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, and Raiden based on the 1995 *Mortal Kombat* movie.
Mortal Kombat 2‘s Kitana Is Coming in MK Mobile‘s big 7.0 Update
The latest 7.0 update for MK Mobile is now available and includes a lot of new content. The biggest addition is Ghostface from the Scream movies, specifically a new version called Nightmare Ghostface. During fights, he’ll have a unique ability to switch between different Ghostface appearances, similar to how he functions in Mortal Kombat 1.
Players will soon be able to battle in Johnny Cage’s mansion, a location fans of the original *MK1* will recognize. New Klash Towers offer random card rewards and challenge players to build powerful teams to compete against others. Spawn and Triborg have gained new Brutality moves through items found in the Krypt. Plus, five characters – Triborg Cyrax, Triborg Smoke, Triborg Sub-Zero, Gunslinger Erron Black, and Unstoppable Jason – can now be Ascended, making their cards stronger. These updates are accompanied by adjustments to character balance.
One of the biggest changes in this update is the introduction of WB Games Accounts, which will eventually replace the old WBID system. With a WB Games Account, you’ll be able to save your progress in the cloud, easily recover your account if needed, and connect your profiles from *Mortal Kombat 11* and *Mortal Kombat 1* across different platforms. If you link your *MK1* account, you’ll receive 150 Dragon Krystals and a surprise character. Linking your *MK11* account will get you a free Kard Pack containing a character from *MK11*.
