Motocross Racer Aidan Zing Dead at 16 After Mid-Race Accident

The motocross community is in mourning.

16-year-old Aidan Zingg, an exceptional talent in the off-road motorcycle racing circuit, tragically passed away after a race accident at the 2025 Mammoth Motocross competition held in Mammoth Lakes, California on June 28th. This information was confirmed by various media outlets.

According to Dirtbikelover, during a race, the native of Washington found himself pinned down in a corner and unfortunately got hit by several motorcycles. He lost consciousness on the track for two laps before the race was halted due to a red flag. However, it’s important to clarify that he wasn’t involved in a collision mid-air, as some speculated.

TopMob News has reached out to local authorities for comment but has yet to hear back.

Alexandria Zingg, Aidan’s elder sibling, shared a collection of photos and videos about him on social media, accompanied by a touching tribute.

In my own words, I expressed on Instagram yesterday, “A single day feels like an eternity has passed.” At 18, my heart is shattered. We’d often joke about our ages, with you claiming I was old and would pass away first, while I’d tease that you were the one who’d go first. Now, here I am, yearning deeply for your jest to come true, so I could bypass each day without you.

Alexandria went on, expressing her uncertainty about the future without you by her side: “I can’t imagine today, tomorrow, or the rest of my life without you. All my plans were set, but it seems God had other ideas. I’ll always yearn for that last embrace, the final ‘I love you’ that never came. You are a beacon of light, adding brilliance to every color in my world.

In memory of her brother’s passing, the horseback rider vowed to double her efforts, strive for excellence, and shine even more brilliantly.

I can hardly believe that you get to meet Jesus before me! Even now, you continue to outshine me. I am so incredibly proud of you and all that you accomplished in just 16 years. It seems God was in such a hurry to bring you home because you had already fulfilled your purpose here on Earth. There are countless other things I could say to you, but I’ll hold them close in my prayers. Know that I love you more than words can express. Soar high, but don’t get too far away. I love you more than you could ever know.

As a lifestyle enthusiast currently stationed in Illinois at the Mini Monsters at Lincoln Trail, I’ve reminisced about the good times we shared here on the tracks. Motocross has been an incredible source of joy for us all, but it can also demand its toll. It is with deep sadness that I share the news I received today – a fellow racer lost his life at Mammoth MX. My sympathies are with the Zingg family during this difficult time; words cannot express the depth of their loss. May you find peace, my friend.

Industry vet Kris Keefer also took a moment to honor the rising star.

Today was a tough day at Mammoth Mountain Motocross, he posted on X. I urge everyone to send their well-wishes and positive thoughts to the Ziing family. Don’t forget to embrace your dear ones and express your love for them.

In the wake of the unfortunate incident, pillars of the motocross fraternity honored Zingg with their tributes. Notably, journalist Donn Maeda described him as one of those individuals who left a lasting impact from the very first encounter.

He posted on Instagram on June 29th that we had an interview for our racing series many years ago when he was riding a 65, and when I inquired about how long it would take him to surpass his father, he grinned and replied, “I’m confident it won’t be much longer.

Following that, Aidan consistently made an effort to greet people, even as he became a skilled motorbike rider at a fast pace, typically an age when some teens grow arrogant. However, that was never the case with Aidan.

The journalist reflected on the impact Zingg’s death will have on those who loved him dearly.

He shared that he’s currently in Illinois, participating in Mini Monsters at Lincoln Trail, and he has a lot of fond memories of him at these races. Motocross brings joy to us all, but it also carries risks. Unfortunately, I heard that he met a tragic accident today at Mammoth MX. My sympathies are with the Zingg family; I can’t imagine what they must be going through right now. May you rest peacefully, friend.
