MOUSE: P.I. For Hire Costs $30, Offers 12 to 20 Hours of Gameplay “Depending on How You Play”

Fumi Games has announced that MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, previously delayed from March, will now release on April 16th and cost $29.99. The developers estimate players will be able to spend between 12 and 20 hours playing, depending on their playstyle.

It’s unclear if the game features conversations, but that seems fitting for this type of adventure. The Steam page for MOUSE: P.I. For Hire says it has 20 levels and uses a “Metroidvania-inspired” system for exploring – meaning you’ll unlock new abilities that let you reach previously inaccessible areas.

The game’s story and visuals are heavily inspired by the classic, bouncy animation style of 1930s cartoons. You play as detective Jack Pepper in the city of Mouseburg, starting with what appears to be a simple case. However, the investigation quickly becomes much bigger, uncovering a hidden conspiracy involving corrupt police and officials. Expect a mix of detective work and plenty of action.

You’ll have a huge arsenal at your disposal, ranging from classic weapons like Tommy guns and revolvers to more unusual and futuristic tools – even a corrosive turpentine gun and a ‘Mind-D’ gun that can make your enemies fight for you. You’ll need everything you’ve got to defeat the toughest bosses, like the Betty Mark III.

The new game, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, will be released on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. You can watch a longer gameplay video here.
