MOUSE: P.I. For Hire Delayed Another Month on PS5 to Make It ‘An Experience to Remember’

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, the black-and-white, hand-animated FPS, has been delayed.

So, the game was originally planned to come out on March 19th, 2026, but they’ve pushed the release date back a few weeks – now we’re looking at April 16th! It’s a bit of a wait, but hopefully it’ll be worth it.

Fumi Games, the developer, and PlaySide Studios, the publisher, announced their decision on the game’s social media pages.

The release of MOUSE: P.I. For Hire has been delayed until April 16, 2026. The reason for the delay is to allow the developers more time to refine and polish the game before launch.

We’re almost finished with development and want to make sure MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is truly special. We’re committed to delivering the best possible game, and we need a few extra weeks to achieve that.

The game has been in the works for some time, and the first glimpse of it was shown to the public in May 2023.

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire takes visual inspiration from the classic, bouncy animation style of the 1920s – similar to the game Cuphead – and uses it to create a first-person detective adventure with a noir feel.

You’re Jack Pepper, a mouse detective (voiced by Troy Baker), solving what seems like a simple missing person case. But things quickly get more complicated as you uncover a much bigger mystery.

The game’s combat feels a lot like DOOM – it’s quick and requires you to keep moving to stay alive. However, the weapons have a cartoonish style, giving it a very different feel.

After the initial shooting, you’ll investigate the city of Mouseburg, searching for clues to advance the story. The game features a Metroidvania-style progression system, meaning you’ll gain new abilities and access new areas as you play.

The trailers have always looked great, and while a lot of the appeal is due to how it’s presented, we’re hoping the game lives up to the hype when it’s released in April. Are you looking forward to it? Let us know in the comments!
