Mr. Fantastic’s 5 Best Inventions

Known as Mr. Fantastic, Reed Richards stands out for being the intellectual powerhouse of the Fantastic Four. Since his creation by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby back in 1961, Reed Richards has earned a reputation as the smartest individual in the entire Marvel Universe, causing no small amount of envy from characters like Dr. Doom. In nearly every appearance, Reed can be seen tweaking and designing an array of innovative devices to improve the world. Whenever a challenge arises, Reed is quick to devise a solution. Even tech giants like Iron Man and Ant-Man have yet to create technology as remarkable as Reed’s. His inventions not only simplify daily life but also reshape our understanding of the universe.

Among his creations, Mr. Fantastic has devised some truly remarkable items, ranging from gateways to destructive devices like doomsday weapons.

5) Universal Translator

The Fantastic Four are renowned for embarking on journeys that span the universe and various dimensions, often encountering extraterrestrial beings who do not understand human speech. This can create a challenge in communication for the Fantastic Four. However, Mr. Fantastic has ingeniously developed a device called the Universal Translator to resolve this issue instantly. As suggested by its name, this gadget can translate any language from across the universe. The intriguing aspect is not how this machine functions but rather why Reed hasn’t made it widely available worldwide, simplifying and facilitating communication between different languages for all.

4) The Atomic Space Displacer

the Atomic Space Displacer. After defeating the Super Skrull, Reed used this device as a bargaining chip to secure Franklin’s safe return from the Skrull homeworld. The threat was clear: if the Skrulls refused to comply, Reed would unleash the full force of the Atomic Space Displacer, annihilating their home planet. Thankfully, it never came to that, but the fact that he managed to build a planet-destroying machine in less than a day leaves me both in awe and slightly uneasy.

3) The Stimulator

As a die-hard movie buff, I’m always captivated by the extraordinary abilities of my favorite superheroes, like the Fantastic Four, whose powers were initially triggered by cosmic energy. Inspired by this, our genius inventor, Reed Richards, crafted a unique device – a power gun that can bestow or strip powers on demand. Whenever one of us loses our special abilities, Reed aims his Stimulator at us, and voila! Our powers are instantly restored. However, the Stimulator has another side to it; it can also sap someone’s powers, leaving them vulnerable.

There have been instances where Reed, in a questionable move, misused the Stimulator. One such time was when he forcibly transformed Ben Grimm, who desired his human form, back into the Thing without seeking his consent. Reed did this in a desperate bid to bolster our team against Doctor Doom. Though I can sympathize with his motivation, there’s no denying that his actions were unethical and morally dubious.

2) The Bridge

As a passionate cinematic enthusiast, I’d rephrase it this way: The Bridge functions as a window, offering Mr. Fantastic a glimpse into the vast Marvel Multiverse. By peeking into alternate realities, Reed Richards can identify and adopt the most admirable aspects of these worlds to enhance his own universe. With this window, Reed also had the opportunity to encounter various incarnations of himself.

Bringing together these distinct versions, they formed an alliance known as the Interdimensional Council of Reeds, a collective of the brightest minds from across the Multiverse. Utilizing their combined intellect, they resolved universe-wide famines, vanquished formidable adversaries, and thwarted numerous natural catastrophes.

Equipped with the power to traverse the endless Multiverse granted by the Bridge, the Council of Reeds had the resources to aid countless beings across a multitude of realities.

1) The Afterlife Transporter

In comic books, it’s often joked that death doesn’t hold any significance. However, the idea of constructing a device to transport someone to the afterlife and bring back the dead is simply preposterous. Following the demise of the Thing, a cherished member of the Fantastic Four, Reed Richards made an exceptional effort to save him. Utilizing Dr. Doom’s communication device meant for contacting the deceased, Reed enhanced it into a transportation tool. The surviving members of the Fantastic Four then ventured into Heaven using this new device. Upon arrival in Heaven, they encountered a figure suspiciously resembling Jack Kirby, who was portrayed as God. They successfully persuaded Him to revive the Thing. Consequently, the Thing was brought back to life, and the Fantastic Four were able to return with their fallen comrade to the world of the living once more. In essence, Reed Richards had developed a machine that essentially negated the concept of death.
