Kate Albrecht and Joey Zehr are discussing a health issue they encountered after welcoming their second child into the world.
On their YouTube channel, Mr. and Mrs., parents of a 6-year-old named Moon, and more recently Mars who was born on May 22, are sharing their experiences about the medical incident that Kate faced following Mars’ birth.
Following nearly a month disconnected from the internet, Kate, aged 43, and Joey, also 43, revealed that although they are now proud parents of two thriving newborns, the past eight weeks since their home birth in Hawaii have been a challenging ordeal. Although the delivery itself was uneventful – a particularly joyous occasion as Kate looked forward to her natural childbirth after her c-section with Moon – everything took a turn for the worse two weeks later.
In her interview with People on July 18, Kate shared that she was extremely tired and in pain, saying it seemed contradictory because she expected recovery from natural childbirth to be simpler compared to surgery. However, she found herself unable to move from bed.
Although the doctor kept giving her the ‘all-clear’, Kate had this feeling that something was amiss, and her concerns were validated when she visited a friend’s home and began to feel unwell.
She struggled to keep her thoughts straight, she recalled. Then, she was placed in bed, and that’s when her recollections ended.
By the time Joey arrived, Kate’s situation had worsened significantly; she was unresponsive, with signs of blood trickling from her mouth.
He shared that he quickly jumped onto the bed and shouted at her, but she didn’t stir awake from it. It was a distressing sight as Kate began to have seizures right there in the room.
It turned out that a film crew was shooting a movie outside, and shortly afterward, Joey discovered an on-set medical professional who informed him that the symptoms she was exhibiting were indicative of eclampsia, a relatively uncommon condition where a pregnant or postpartum woman suddenly experiences seizures. This condition can occur until six weeks after delivery, as explained by Yale Medicine.
In the midst of my heart-pounding panic, after seizing in my bed and again during the ride in the ambulance, I watched helplessly as she was intubated. Reflecting back on those moments, it’s as if I can still feel the chilling realization that she had been induced into a medical coma.
After undergoing numerous hours of tests and a harrowing night at the hospital, I found myself waking up the next morning, finally ready for discharge. My journey took me from the ICU to labor and delivery, where I was eventually cleared. Looking back on that terrifying ordeal, my partner and I can’t help but wish someone had prepared us for the potential development of this condition beforehand.
Joey mentioned that we were well-informed, but surprisingly unaware that two weeks post delivery, we needed to keep an eye out for conditions like preeclampsia and eclampsia.
He added, “We were prepared for everything except the one [thing] that happened.”
Now, weeks later, the couple is finally feeling like things are back to normal.
Kate expressed that her family is doing well and not just surviving but flourishing, she added that her child is also growing healthily and strong. Furthermore, she mentioned that she herself is in a good state and improving daily.

Amy reminisced about a 2025 episode of Call Her Daddy where she said, “The internet really gave me a hard time after several interviews, and I was like, ‘Everyone, calm down.'” However, medical professionals began commenting, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome due to her unusual appearance. Amy joked, “I’m getting trolled by doctors?”
After these doctors speculated that she had Cushing syndrome caused by elevated cortisol levels or steroid injections, the Life & Beth creator realized, “Wait, I’ve been receiving steroid injections for my scars.” Amy continued, “I’d had a breast reduction, a C-section, and other procedures, so I was getting these steroid injections. Hailey Bieber experienced a harrowing incident in March 2022 that she described as the scariest moment of her life. During breakfast with husband Justin Bieber, she began experiencing stroke-like symptoms. As she struggled to respond and speak properly, her face drooped on one side. Despite the symptoms subsiding, Hailey decided to visit the hospital for a checkup.
Upon examination, doctors discovered a small blood clot in her brain, which they classified as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Further tests at the University of California, Los Angeles revealed that she had a heart condition called patent foramen ovale (PFO). It was determined that the blood clot had traveled into her heart, escaped through the PFO, and reached her brain, causing the TIA.
Fortunately, Hailey underwent a successful procedure to close the hole in her heart, and she is now feeling well.
In the same year when Hailey faced her health issue, Justin also encountered a similar predicament. Specifically, in June 2022, the “Baby” singer revealed he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that led to temporary facial paralysis and necessitated the cancellation of the rest of his Justice World Tour. As he explained in an Instagram video at the time, this virus targeted the nerve in his ear and his facial nerves, resulting in full paralysis on one side of his face. He was unable to blink one eye, smile, or move one nostril. The condition made eating difficult for him initially, but eventually, the paralysis subsided. Hailey shared on a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America that Justin is doing well now and is feeling much better, although they both went through a scary and unexpected situation.

Unfortunately, before he could get the aspirin, he fainted. He couldn’t recall 20 days afterward.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home. However, his sister, Deidra Dixon, then drove him to another hospital where they discovered the cause: a brain bleed that resulted in a stroke. After undergoing surgery on April 24th, Jamie woke up May 4th in a wheelchair unable to walk. He was subsequently transferred to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.
“I want to express my gratitude for every prayer,” he said, “because I needed every one of them.
Emilia Clarke, famously known for her role in Game of Thrones, filmed intense battle scenes. However, in 2019, she penned an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” for The New Yorker. In this piece, she recounted a harrowing experience at the gym where she was struck with a severe headache, causing her to collapse and be violently ill. As the pain intensified, she recognized that her brain was injured.
Rushed to the hospital for a scan, she received a grim diagnosis: a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening type of stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. She had suffered an aneurysm, an arterial rupture. The surgery to seal the aneurysm was described as unbearably painful.
During her recovery, she experienced aphasia and found herself muttering incoherent words. A week later, the aphasia subsided, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month. Unfortunately, a 2013 brain scan revealed that the growth had doubled in size, requiring another surgery.
“When they woke me,” she wrote, “I was screaming in pain. The procedure had failed. I had a massive bleed and the doctors made it clear that my chances of survival were precarious if they didn’t operate again. This time they needed to access my brain through my skull.”
Thankfully, Emilia is now reportedly in perfect health.

Due to other health issues, Cori’s hospital stay was prolonged beyond what she initially anticipated. “I could have left the hospital after my stroke,” she continued in her interview for ‘Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story’. “However, my lupus wasn’t doing well, and my kidneys were failing. There was a lot going on.”
Currently, Cori is recovering well. She stated, “I’m doing great now. I just needed to work on some motor skills, but apart from that, I was fine.
During her twenties, the health of Shailene Woodley was far from ideal. At one point, she even began losing her hearing, couldn’t walk for extended periods without needing long rests, and found nearly everything she ate upset her stomach. She was given various diagnoses by different doctors, leading to a confusing mix of health issues.
Determined to find answers, Shailene—who has a background in holistic healing—decided to seek help from both traditional medical professionals and independent healers. This quest for understanding took her on a decade-long journey.
During this time, the hardships she faced physically had a significant impact on her mentally as well. “If everything I ate hurt my stomach,” she explained, “I became afraid of food, which led to mental struggles like body dysmorphia and confusion about my identity.”
After focusing on both her physical and mental well-being, Shailene is now feeling much healthier. She shared, “This journey eventually resolved my physical health issues, and I am very happy to say that I am healthy today.
