The teams behind the popular Paddington movies are creating a new film called Mr. Men Little Miss. This will be the first time the classic characters created by Roger Hargreaves are adapted for the big screen.
Hargreaves started the Mr. Men book series in 1971, and then introduced the Little Miss characters in 1981.
After his death in 1988, the series was restarted in 2003 by his son, Adam.
In 2001, Sanrio, a Japanese company, acquired the rights to the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters. Since then, the brands have become even more popular worldwide, partnering with well-known names like Transport for London, Heathrow Airport, Marks & Spencer, Uniqlo, and Doctor Who.
The upcoming movie is based on the popular Mr. Men and Little Miss characters, expanding from the animated series already available on YouTube and another one currently being made for TV.
David Heyman, the producer behind films like the Harry Potter series and Barbie, said the new project is a fantastic chance to create a truly creative and exciting movie.
Anna Marsh from StudioCanal described the film as a truly joyful, playful, and exciting experience, predicting it will captivate moviegoers of all ages globally.
Sanrio’s Tomokuni Tsuji explained that the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters – a group of over 90 – will spread happiness and bring smiles to people around the world.
Adam Hargreaves shared that his father would have been delighted, and he’s incredibly proud that his father’s creation, Mr. Small, is now a movie. He sees this as a huge achievement for the character.
