Hermit Crab Game Studio, a Brazilian development team, is creating a new arcade-style sports game called *Sportia*. Ubisoft is helping to publish the game, which is planned for release on PC (via Steam) and consoles, though a specific release date hasn’t been revealed yet.
Sportia lets you play a variety of sports with diverse characters, each having unique abilities and body types. The core gameplay involves creating a team suited to each sport and then competing against other players.
Hermit Crab Game Studio is starting a new phase, according to CEO Matheus Vivian. After a decade of working with well-known sports brands, the studio is excited to team up with a major gaming company to develop their biggest and most challenging game yet.
Vitor Leaes, head of product at Hermit Crab Game Studio and creative director of *Sportia*, explained that after years of working with major sports brands, the team wanted to create something truly original. He shared that making a game celebrating Brazil’s vibrant culture and love of sports had always been a goal, and they’re now excited to bring that vision to life.
Nicolas Pouard, a vice president at Ubisoft, explained that Ubisoft looks for studios with both skill and enthusiasm. He said Hermit Crab Games’ expertise in sports games made them a great partner, capable of creating something new and exciting for both gamers and sports fans.
