30 years since the conclusion of Murder, She Wrote, there are now plans for a movie remake, with Jamie Lee Curtis announcing this exciting development.
As a cinephile enthusiastically recounting my insights, I am thrilled to share that Jamie Lee Curtis, renowned for her captivating performances in Halloween, Knives Out, and Everything Everywhere All at Once, has hinted at potential discussions regarding the iconic character Jessica Fletcher. According to Curtis herself, the long-awaited film reboot of this beloved series appears to be on the horizon, with her expressing genuine excitement about the prospect.
At the debut of her latest movie titled “Freaky Friday,” Curtis was queried regarding potential opportunities to portray Angela Lansbury’s renowned character, and this was her response.
“I have a couple of other things to hustle, but then I’ll get to enjoy that work.”

Back in December, it was initially mentioned that Curtis might be cast in this movie, which originates from Universal Pictures and is being developed by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Amy Pascal.
The initial Murder, She Wrote television show spanned 12 seasons and produced 4 TV movies from 1984 to 1996. This series focused on Jessica Fletcher, a mystery novelist and unofficial detective, who assisted in solving murders not only in her fictional hometown of Cabot Cove but also in various other locations.
Jessica was played by Angela Lansbury, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 96.
As a keen film enthusiast, I’m eagerly awaiting the release of the upcoming movie, yet to reveal its captivating storyline. What I do know is that the script was masterfully crafted by the talented duo, Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo.
In the latest movie by Curtis titled “Another Freaky Friday,” she once again takes on the character of Tess in a follow-up to the 2003 comedy where characters switch bodies. Notably, Lindsay Lohan is back in the role of her on-screen daughter Anna as well.
The summary for the upcoming movie explains that Anna now has a daughter of her own and a future stepdaughter. As they deal with all the complexities that arise when two families combine, Tess and Anna find out that love could potentially happen again in their lives.
