The anime series My Hero Academia is finishing up this month, and fans are starting to bid farewell to Izuku Midoriya and his classmates at UA Academy. Even though the anime produced by Studio BONES is ending, the franchise will still be a major presence at this year’s Jump Festa, a yearly event celebrating popular anime series. And to get fans excited, My Hero Academia has already released a recreation of a memorable scene from the manga that wasn’t previously animated.
The manga series My Hero Academia often features cover art and illustrations that don’t directly relate to the main storyline of Class 1-A, and a recently revealed piece is a good example of this. Creator Kohei Horikoshi has previously redesigned the heroes with a medieval, *The Lord of the Ringsinspired aesthetic. One striking image showed the heroes flying with a giant dragon, and it was first released with chapter 419 of the manga. Now, an animated version of this image will be shown at this year’s Jump Festa for event attendees.

Take To The Skies Heroes
Toho Animation has revealed a new image for this year’s Jump Festa, which takes place on December 20th and 21st at Makuhari Messe. The artwork is inspired by a cover illustration from chapter 419 of the original manga and features the top ten characters from a recent fan poll: Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, Ochaco Uraraka, Tenya Iida, Shoto Todoroki, Eijiro Kirishima, Mezo Shoji, Endeavor, Hawks, and Dabi. They’re depicted flying through the sky with a large dragon! Merchandise featuring this image will be available for purchase. Fans can also find items related to the event’s theme, “Playing in the Snow,” which showcases Deku and Bakugo. These products will be sold online at the TOHO animation STORE ONLINE and at the TOHO animation booth during Jump Festa.
Although fans are disappointed that the My Hero Academia anime is ending, they won’t have to wait long to return to that world. Season two of the spin-off series, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, starts next month, continuing the story of Crawler, Pop Step, and Knuckleduster – heroes who work outside the law. While Deku and Bakugo likely won’t appear, expect to see other known heroes if the new season follows the original story.
