As a long-time fan of My Hero Academia, I can honestly say that this franchise has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions for me. From the very beginning, Izuku Midoriya’s journey resonated with me on a deep level, mirroring my own struggles to find my place in the world and discover my true potential.
Although My Hero Academia officially concluded its run in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine this Summer due to Deku and the other heroes defeating All For One and Tomura Shigaraki, the creator has reintroduced Izuku Midoriya’s most ominous (and stylish) persona with some exclusive artwork. With the TV series also preparing for its conclusion next year, it won’t be long before this franchise bids farewell in both comic and animated forms.
In the climactic battle of My Hero Academia, Deku was subjected to intense pressure since he was the last one with One For All and strong enough to confront Shigaraki. Feeling that everything rested on his shoulders, Deku believed he had to fight alone while working as a hero outside the system without much rest or sleep. This struggle transformed him into a new dark form, altering his typical costume into something ominous. Recently, series creator Kohei Horikoshi has revealed a fresh sketch of this form, which you can see below.
Breaking news from the Hero Academy Exhibit!! The figure of Black Deck (1/1) has been decided to be displayed, based on an illustration by Mr. Kouhei Horikoshi! The official illustration for the figure will also be released! For more details about the exhibition and updates, stay tuned to the official website and this account! Regarding My Hero Academia…

What Is Dark Deku?
In “My Hero Academia”, Deku found himself stretched to the maximum when All For One released all the villainous inmates from Tartarus. Determined to thwart as many of these villains individually, fearing that others might also fall into danger while he was the main target, Deku temporarily abandoned U.A. Academy and sped across Japan on a solo mission.
1-A’s students, including Ochaco Uraraka, pursued Deku and defeated him, helping him understand that he wasn’t facing this situation alone. However, this incident marked a significant shift in the series, as it signaled the start of the ultimate conflict between heroes and villains. Although challenging, this brief period of darkness was necessary for Deku, allowing his suppressed feelings to surface.
What’s Next for My Hero Academia?
In fall 2025, “My Hero Academia” is set to return for its eighth season on television screens, marking its final chapter overall. The original manga by Kohei Horikoshi concluded earlier this summer, but the last volume of the series was released in Japan recently, featuring a new finale that added more details about the conclusion of the story. However, it remains undecided whether or not the anime will incorporate this additional material into its adaptation.
The popular anime series, “My Hero Academia,” will make its comeback with a new spin-off titled, “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes,” starting in Spring 2025. Specifically airing in April 2025, this prequel series will offer an intriguing glimpse into the past, focusing on All Might, Endeavor, and other characters at the peak of their powers. The production of “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” will be under the care of Studio Bones’ newly established film division, Bones Film wing. This means that many familiar faces from the original TV anime series will return to bring this exciting story to life. For fans eagerly awaiting more content from “My Hero Academia,” there’s plenty in store for you next year!
