Though the main story of My Hero Academia has finished, there’s still a bit more to come before we say goodbye to UA Academy. After My Hero Academia: Vigilantes ended, a special epilogue episode called “More” will be released next month. Recently, a My Hero Academia exhibit in Japan allowed fans to relive key moments from the manga and anime. Creator Kohei Horikoshi also revealed that the story of Class 1-A was originally planned to be quite different than what fans ultimately saw.
The official art exhibition for My Hero Academia is now open in Japan, showcasing original manga pages and panels. Alongside the artwork, creator Kohei Horikoshi has shared insights into the story’s development, including some early ideas for Class 1-A. He revealed he felt rushed while working on the “Forest Training Camp Arc” from season three of the anime. Horikoshi explained that negative fan feedback on the arc led him to speed up the story, resulting in the “Deku Vs. Muscular” fight, which he ultimately felt improved the season. However, this wasn’t the only part of the story he revised during the creative process.
My Hero Academia’s Original Plans

Following the Forest Training Camp Arc, creator Kohei Horikoshi shared that his original plan for the final battle differed from what fans ultimately saw. He initially envisioned a showdown focused on Endeavor and the rest of his family, excluding Shoto Todoroki from the direct confrontation with Dabi. Horikoshi has since expressed uncertainty about whether he made the right choice with the final battle’s composition, as revealed in commentary from a recent exhibition.
Horikoshi shared that the climactic fight between Uravity and Toga wasn’t initially as fans saw it. He’d planned for Toga to say a final line to Ochaco – “Please, don’t forget me” – but Kohei vetoed it, worried it would feel like a burden for Ochaco. Horikoshi also wondered if that scene would diminish Uravity’s importance in the battle.
Initially, Horikoshi intended to restore All Might’s power by having Eri rewind time on him. However, as he explained at the My Hero Academia exhibit, he couldn’t find a way to make this work and ultimately scrapped the idea. Fortunately, All Might still managed to survive his battle with All For One, using a special suit to remain in the fight and deliver some crucial attacks.
