It’s finally here – the last episode of My Hero Academia has arrived. After the big battle with All For One and Shigaraki, the anime has been showing us what happens as Izuku and his friends try to rebuild Hero Society. Throughout almost the entire series, the creator, Kohei Horikoshi, has shared special artwork featuring the characters, so it felt natural he’d do the same for the finale. Now that Studio BONES has finished animating the main story, Horikoshi gave fans one last amazing gift to celebrate.
The anime series My Hero Academia first aired in 2016, and after more than nine years and 170 episodes, the show has concluded. While the series is over, its impact on the anime world will last for a long time. To celebrate the finale, the creator, Horikoshi, released new artwork featuring Deku and All Might together, along with a message for fans saying the final episode is coming very soon! You can view the artwork as we say goodbye to Class 1-A.

Let’s Talk About The Finale
The last episode of the series jumps forward in time, showing the students of Class 1-A as adults. Izuku Midoriya, now a teacher at UA Academy, is training the next generation of heroes. After the climactic battle, Deku no longer possesses the One For All quirk, making him unique among his former classmates as the only one without superpowers. However, All Might had a gift for the hero who defeated Shigaraki: a powerful new suit of armor built with the help of Deku’s friends. The episode ends with Midoriya joining his classmates in battle, vowing to protect the world for years to come.
Just like the future of the My Hero Academia story itself, what Kohei Horikoshi will create next is currently unknown. Although he hasn’t announced any plans for sequels or spin-offs, he’s mentioned wanting to explore different genres. He’s expressed a small interest in creating a horror manga, similar to the work of Junji Ito, saying in 2022 that he has a “small desire” to try it.
Good news for fans of superhero anime! The second season of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is coming next month. Though it tells a different story than the main My Hero Academia series, the show has already introduced us to an enjoyable team of heroes: Crawler, Pop Step, and Knuckleduster. And if the original manga is anything to go by, we might see even more seasons after this one.
I noticed Horikoshi said goodbye to the anime, and it got me thinking about how much we’ve all enjoyed it. I’m curious to hear your thoughts too! If you’d like to discuss it with others, there’s a conversation happening right now in the ComicBook Forum.
