My Hero Academia Gets a Major Netflix Update Ahead of Anime’s Return

Fans said goodbye to the My Hero Academia anime last December, nine years after it first aired. The anime concluded its story just over a year after the manga finished. The ending shows the aftermath of a huge battle, with heroes dealing with lasting wounds and working to rebuild the country. Despite the main story being over, the My Hero Academia universe continues with new content like spin-offs and video games. The spin-off series, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, will return for a second season in the Winter 2026 anime lineup. Plus, to celebrate the anime’s 10th anniversary this year, even more new projects – including a special anime episode – will be announced.

The last season of the anime premiered in October 2025 and is available on Crunchyroll. Netflix Anime has announced that it will begin streaming the final season worldwide on April 1st. With all previous seasons already on Netflix, fans will soon be able to watch the complete series just before the new episodes start airing.

My Hero Academia Will Adapt a Special Chapter From The Final Volume

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the popular anime, and exciting things are coming! At Jump Festa 2026, it was announced that fans can expect several new projects and updates. A dedicated website has been launched to share all the details about the anniversary and what’s next. The biggest news is a special new episode of the anime, set to debut around the world on May 2nd, 2026.

The special episode, called “More,” is based on chapter 431, a bonus chapter originally published only in the final volume (volume 42) of the manga. While the Japanese version of the volume came out in December 2024, English readers could finally get their hands on it in October 2025. This volume concludes the main story, offering a glimpse into the lives of Class 1-A, the Big Three, and professional heroes after the time skip. The chapter primarily focuses on Ochako Uraraka and shows a gathering of these characters, revealing their current hero rankings.

I’m so excited for the new My Hero Academia special! It takes place after the main story, and it’s awesome to think about all the U.A. students becoming amazing pro heroes. You’ll be able to watch it worldwide on Crunchyroll – they have all eight seasons of the anime available there too, if you need to catch up! Netflix has only mentioned the final season so far, and we still don’t have a release date for the special. They haven’t even dropped a teaser or a key visual yet, which is killing me! But the official website hints at at least two more big announcements coming soon, and honestly, I’m hoping for even more! It’s going to be epic.
