A new trailer and poster have been released to promote the upcoming season, and it’s been revealed that it will adapt a key story arc with important connections to the main My Hero Academia series. What to Know for My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2
Season 2 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes premieres in Japan on January 5th. Fans outside of Japan can watch the new episodes exclusively on Crunchyroll. A new trailer has also been released, revealing the opening theme song, “Catch,” by Surii, and the ending theme, “Miss You,” by shytaupe. The voice cast includes Kazuyuki Okitsu returning as a younger Fatgum, and Kana Ueda joining as the new hero, Monika Kaniyashiki.
The first season of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes was created by a talented team at Bones Film, led by director Kenichi Suzuki. Yosuke Kuroda wrote the scripts, Takahiko Yoshida designed the characters, Yukihiro Watanabe was the art director, Haruko Nobori handled color, and Yuki Hayashi composed the music. It’s expected that the same team and original voice actors will return for the second season. As of now, there’s no news about when the English dub will be available.
Why My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 Is Important
I’m really enjoying My Hero Academia: Vigilantes! It’s set a few years before the main story, and it’s fascinating to see how the hero world was still developing. It feels much rougher around the edges – there aren’t as many established heroes, and things are genuinely more dangerous. What’s really cool is that the villains we meet here are basically early versions of the ones we’ll see causing trouble later on, so it all connects to the main series in a really satisfying way!
The trailer’s ending confirms that the popular Aizawa Flashback Arc from the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes manga will be adapted. This arc is significant because it shows how Aizawa became a hero and explores his history with his close friend, Oboro Shirakumo. Notably, Oboro later becomes the villain Kurogiri, a character featured in the main My Hero Academia series. To fully understand the story, it’s recommended to watch the Vigilantes prequel first.
