The anime series My Hero Academia debuted last fall, and its story continued into Winter 2026 with the prequel, Vigilantes. Season 2 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes recently finished airing after 13 episodes. This season, like the first, focuses on lesser-known heroes operating outside the mainstream, centering on Koichi Himawari, a devoted All Might fan who is determined to make a difference. Throughout the season, Vigilantes maintained the unique qualities that made it such an engaging story.
The season’s last episodes heavily featured Captain Celebrity, but Koichi was right in the middle of everything. He really stepped up as a hero, even earning the silent admiration of C.C. The season ended with a glimpse into the future, showing Koichi graduating college and starting his job search. He felt he’d accomplished his goal of being a hero and was ready to move on to the next chapter of his life.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 Concludes Its Main Hero’s Dreams

Koichi isn’t your typical shonen hero. He’s more of a team player, always ready to help others in any way he can. This fits his role as a vigilante perfectly, as it’s about contributing where needed. But in a world of super-powered heroes, Koichi realizes there’s only so much he can do. This makes his choice to finish college and retire from neighborhood hero work particularly interesting and relatable.
The ending emphasizes Koichi’s growth and fits the overall story the prequel was trying to tell. His three years as a vigilante weren’t for nothing, and the final scene shows him as the well-loved hero of Narahata – similar to Spider-Man and a fitting end to his journey. Though it seems like Koichi’s story might be complete, another season of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is still possible, even if it hasn’t been confirmed. Before Koichi settles into a regular job, fans might get to see The Crawler back in action.
