Mystery Game Awards Reveal Is a New Divinity RPG, as Riddle Is Finally Solved

Update [Wed 10th Dec 2025, 4:30am]:

Three newly registered trademarks for ‘Divinity’ in Europe suggest that the statue featured at Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards is connected to a new project from the developers at Larian.

MP1st noticed a logo that exactly matches an icon from the famous Los Angeles statue, strongly suggesting a link to the classic computer role-playing game series.

We previously shared that an announcement about a Divinity game seemed probable after trophies for the PlayStation 5 version of Divinity: Original Sin 2 appeared on Sony’s system.

Michael Douse, Larian’s publishing director, has essentially confirmed the announcement was premature, stating on X (formerly Twitter) that it wasn’t meant to be revealed just yet.

It appears Geoff Keighley’s event this week will feature two announcements for the Divinity series: a surprise release of Divinity: Original Sin 2 for current consoles, and a brand new reveal for the franchise.

Okay, so as a huge fan of Larian Studios – the team behind Baldur’s Gate 3 – I’ve been following all the hype around Geoff Keighley’s mysterious announcement for The Game Awards. And honestly, a lot of us think it’s going to be something new in the Divinity universe. It just feels right, you know?

Before creating Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios had already built a popular fantasy RPG world called Divinity. The Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin 2 games were both released on PlayStation 4 and received excellent reviews from both critics and players.

Why is everyone starting to believe this news? It started back in November when rumors began circulating about a PlayStation 5 version of Divinity: Original Sin 2. Now, PlayStation Game Size, which tracks updates to the PlayStation Store, is suggesting it’s actually going to happen.

Things are starting to fall into place. If the big Game Awards statue really does hint at Larian’s next game, it would make sense for them to announce everything at once and release the original Divinity: Original Sin 2 on PlayStation 5 to build excitement.

People familiar with the situation, like eXtas1s, are now suggesting on social media that the strange statue recently installed in downtown Los Angeles has a connection to the game Divinity.

Many fans have also noticed the creatures on the statue look similar to those from the Divinity games, though it’s fair to say you could find similar designs in lots of other fantasy worlds.

It’s important to remember this is mostly based on assumptions, but things really do seem to be falling into place.

Okay, so Larian’s stock is through the roof after Baldur’s Gate 3 blew up, which means Geoff Keighley is probably really hoping their next announcement at his show is huge. Honestly, whatever they’re planning must be a big deal, because campaigns like this don’t come cheap – it takes serious investment to make this much noise.

What are your thoughts on all of this? Does this theory seem plausible, or could the recent Game Awards teaser hint at something else entirely? Please keep the discussion civil in the comments.
