Nacon’s Cyanide Studios, Spiders, Klyotonn Have Paused Payment to Employees – Rumor

Following publisher Nacon’s bankruptcy filing in February, several of its game development studios are now facing financial difficulties. French publication Origami reports that Cyanide Studios, Spiders, and Klyotonn have been included in the legal restructuring process, leading them to temporarily halt payments to their employees. This situation is affecting approximately 320 game developers.

Nacon initially filed for protection because its main shareholder, Bigben Interactive, couldn’t fully repay a loan to its lenders. Bigben blamed this on its banks unexpectedly refusing to provide further funding, which also disrupted Bigben’s own business. Nacon is now urgently seeking a financial overhaul to stay afloat. Earlier attempts to restructure its debt through legal proceedings failed because the company didn’t have enough assets it could quickly sell to cover its debts.

Nacon recently filed for bankruptcy protection, asking the courts to help them explore options for staying in business. They hope to find a way to continue operating while protecting employees, saving jobs, and working out new agreements with those they owe money to. A court hearing about this took place earlier this month.

The publisher has delayed its Nacon Connect presentation, originally scheduled for March 4th, until May. They explained that current economic challenges led to this decision, and they want to make sure their upcoming announcements get the attention they deserve.

Due to current economic challenges, we’re prioritizing the development and refinement of our upcoming and existing games. This will give us time to perfect our projects and prepare for Nacon Connect in May, where we’ll proudly showcase everything our studios have been working on.

The event will showcase gameplay from two cosmic horror games, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss and The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu. Attendees can also expect to see a new action RPG called Edge of Memories, and the latest installment in the Endurance Motorsport Series developed by KT Racing.

Earlier this month, the publisher launched GreedFall: The Dying World. The role-playing game was available in Early Access on PC for a while before its full release, which also brought it to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. You can find a detailed review on our site.

Nacon and ACE Team recently announced that their co-op horror game, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on July 15th. They shared a new trailer highlighting gameplay and some of the game’s frightening features, including hallucinations players might experience.
