21 years ago, the release of Napoleon Dynamite ignited pop culture, with its humor resonating among people of all ages in 2004. From using Napoleon’s unique “idiot” phrase when mocking others to sporting a “Vote for Pedro” tee, some still emulate these aspects even in 2025. Over the years, numerous lines from the movie have become popular, and Jon Heder and Efren Ramirez have shared their favorites that they frequently hear repeated.
At San Diego Comic-Con, I was fortunate enough to chat with both actors, since they’re currently traveling and presenting screenings of Napoleon Dynamite throughout the U.S. Intriguingly, they still seem enthusiastic about discussing the movie after so many years. Jon Heder then shared with me the most frequently repeated line from fans:
Probably, ‘Tina, you’re quite heavyset,’ is often repeated. People still make comments about others, but that line seems to be one of the most well-known ones, something like, ‘Napoleon! You’re chubby.’
It doesn’t surprise me that one of Napoleon Dynamite’s funniest quotes, spoken by Heder, is the one he hears most frequently, but what does astonish me is which quote strikes a chord with fans the strongest. If it turns out that mocking Tina the llama is so well-liked among fans, I can only imagine how Tina herself must feel! It’s also not surprising that tater tots are mentioned, given that we talked about them when the cast reunited nearly a decade ago. Whenever I eat tater tots, I always think of that movie.
Efren Ramirez’s quote is more straightforward to recognize. Despite his numerous acting projects following the end of Napoleon Dynamite on screen, people are quick to recall his character’s political ambitions in the film, which remain a popular topic of discussion.
Someone might exclaim, “Wow, Pedro, could you become our President? I already cast my vote for you,” or “I plan to vote for you.
Indeed, it’s hardly unexpected that Efren Ramirez, alongside his co-star Jon Gries (Uncle Rico), is finding themselves revisiting the screenings of Napoleon Dynamite and reminiscing about the movie. It’s clear that such events will only fuel fans’ anticipation for a long-awaited sequel, and as Ramirez mentioned in an interview last year, the possibility hasn’t been completely ruled out yet.

Wow, I can’t contain my excitement! As a die-hard fan, I recently stumbled upon an amazing revelation – the hidden Napoleon Dynamite references in the director’s take on Minecraft as a movie! Can you believe it? The blend of these two iconic pop culture phenomena is simply mind-blowing! I can’t wait to delve deeper into these Easter eggs and uncover more of this creative masterpiece.
Considering Jon Gries’ recent popularity following his role as Greg in “The White Lotus,” it seems fitting to contemplate a sequel for “Napoleon Dynamite.” Given this momentum and the ongoing tour, now could be an opportune moment to proceed with production. This way, “Napoleon Dynamite” could join the ranks of cult classics that have successfully utilized streaming platforms as a means for their second installment.
If it turns out that way isn’t possible, we at least have an excellent film and numerous memorable lines to treasure instead. For those who love reminiscing, they can immediately watch the movie with a HBO Max subscription, or explore where Jon Heder and Efren Ramirez might appear next by checking their tour schedule!

Enjoy a diverse selection of films including the iconic “Napoleon Dynamite” on HBO Max! For as low as $9.99 per month, you can subscribe to their Ad-supported plan, with multiple tiers available. If you prefer an ad-free experience, consider their higher tier options. Plus, by opting for a yearly subscription, you could save up to 20%! Check out the deal here.
Viewers can take delight in streaming “Napoleon Dynamite” on HBO Max. Interestingly, I seem to have a lot of its dialogue stored away in my memory. Thankfully, I don’t recall the dance steps from the auditorium scene at the end, or else I’d probably still be performing them now.
