To animate the lively world of the Hidden Leaf Village, depicted in shows like Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, it takes a whole team’s effort. Recently, Studio Pierrot has been adopting a more “seasonal” production strategy for many of its projects, which means fans must be patient to revisit Konoha. As fans eagerly anticipate the return of the Seventh Hokage and his son, a renowned animator in the anime world has disclosed that one of their colleagues was rewarded handsomely for designing an especially impactful shot within the shonen series.
Henry Thurlow, a well-known animator who has worked on popular series such as Naruto, One Piece, Pokemon, Castlevania, Attack on Titan, and more, mentioned that another artist received a significant bonus for their work on the shonen anime. He recalled a funny incident where an in-betweener/clean-up artist who drew a particular scene from Naruto Shippuden episode 377 was paid a substantial sum for it and even got a day off and recognition from the studio’s higher-ups. This work was all done by hand, as he humorously added. You can see the stunning image below that earned Douga a large financial reward.
I have a humorous recollection about an artist named Douga-man, who worked on The In-Betweeners or Clean-up team, and drew a scene from Naruto Shippuden episode 377. It seems that he received a substantial bonus for his work and was granted the following day off, along with a thank you note from the studio’s management. This entire piece of artwork was hand-drawn. Laugh out loud!

Naruto’s Return?
Although Studio Pierrot has announced on their official site that they intend to resume Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, fans are still waiting for news about when this anime adaptation will be back on our screens. Originally, when the initial part of this sequel series concluded, Pierrot stated they aimed to produce four additional episodes of the original Naruto series, targeting a 2023 release. However, the progress of these installments is uncertain as Pierrot mentioned they’ve encountered difficulties in animation production for the quartet. Naturally, whenever Pierrot gets back to the shonen series, they will find plenty of epic battles and storylines waiting for them.
Currently, the Konoha universe persists within the realm of manga, primarily through the series titled “Boruto: Two Blue Vortex“. This narrative serves as a continuation of sorts, with elements reminiscent of the “Shippuden” era, set within the context of “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations“. In this ongoing storyline, a teenage Boruto Uzumaki finds himself battling both friends and foes. The world’s chaos has caused it to spin out of control. Although Boruto has managed to reverse some of Eida’s spells affecting his former allies, there is still much work to be done in rescuing the ninja world and defeating the new dangers posed by the Divine Trees.
Regarding Studio Pierrot’s upcoming plans, they have a full plate beyond Hidden Leaf. Fans eagerly anticipate the fourth and concluding installment of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, while the studio is simultaneously working on the resumption of Black Clover. This dual focus means that the Uzumakis’ return might be delayed, but fans are excited about the Soul Society and Asta’s comeback.
