The movie series “How to Train Your Dragon” has grown into a major franchise for Universal Pictures, producing three animated films, a live-action version, and a TV show. Although the tale of Hiccup and Toothless has dominated various forms of media, there’s still one format that the series hasn’t ventured into: anime. Fortunately, Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of “Naruto,” is eager to bridge these two worlds through a new crossover. In this collaboration, the Seventh Hokage joins forces with the animated characters who even have their own themed area at Universal Studios.
The crossover was designed to commemorate the upcoming Japanese release of the live-action version of “How to Train Your Dragon” movie, with Masashi Kishimoto eager to merge these two universes. Although Naruto Uzumaki doesn’t have a dragon to summon in battle, his talent for summoning colossal toads has become a common strategy due to his training with Jiraiya. Alongside the new crossover artwork, Kishimoto expressed his admiration for the Universal franchise and his enthusiasm for the latest live-action adaptation, stating: “The animated ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ was so captivating that it’s widely recognized as a top-tier cartoon among my fellow animators. Now it’s live-action, and naturally, it’s even more entertaining! Riding on the back of a live-action dragon is an experience I can savor multiple times!” You can view the new visual depiction below.
Naruto’s Dragon-Less Status
In the realm of ninja stories, various exotic beasts have made their presence known, but dragons haven’t been a common sight, particularly within the shonen genre. Fortunately, even without many dragon encounters, Masashi Kishimoto has been continuing the tale of the Seventh Hokage in the comics of “Boruto: Two Blue Vortex”. Essentially serving as a sequel to “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations”, the current story arc finds Naruto ensnared in another dimension while his son faces significant challenges.
In an apparently challenging situation for Boruto Uzumaki, the adolescent has been showing remarkable progress. This advancement is due in large part to training from Kashin Koji, a clone of Jiraiya, and as a result, Boruto has never been more powerful, managing to defeat Code in a one-on-one battle. However, it’s not just Boruto who is undergoing changes – his sister Himawari is also experiencing significant transformations that make her increasingly like their father day by day.
There hasn’t been any news about the resumption of the Naruto anime series, specifically regarding Konoha’s reappearance. Previously, Studio Pierrot had announced their intentions to produce four new episodes from the original Naruto series, offering fans a glimpse into the past of the Hidden Leaf Village. However, despite confirming that they will continue with Boruto’s storyline at some point, they have yet to announce a release date for these new episodes.
