Nate Bargatze is ready to cut a big check.
If the Emmy award winners in 2025 manage to deliver brief speeches, that would be great. The host of the September 14 ceremony on CBS has actually shared his strategy for quickening the on-stage acknowledgements and ensuring this year’s event stays within a three-hour timeframe.
On the September 10th episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, Nate who was hosting for the first time, shared that each person would have 45 seconds to express their thanks. He explained, “I’ve decided to kick things off by donating $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Club. Here’s the deal: everyone will get their 45 seconds. If someone takes longer than that, we’ll deduct $1,000 for every second they go over. It might be tough. On the flip side, if you finish early, we’ll add $1,000 back on so you can contribute it.
He went on to say that the cost might be substantial, things could get quite unpredictable, and everyone would need to contribute their time generously. If everybody donates, it would amount to a significant sum of money. Those who invest for a longer period, that’s acceptable. Bring the total down to around $10,000, if you can.
To further motivate, the comedian, Nate Bargatze (who you might call a friend), intends to involve children from a charitable organization during the event. Undeniably, he’s showing his readiness to back up his words with actions, as evident by his age of 46 years.
Nate jokingly remarked, “They’re going to show up and you need to meet their gaze.” He emphasized, “It’s genuine, truly. That’s why we included the extra part, because I figured everyone would think it was a prank if we just removed it. Honestly, I’m putting my money where my mouth is.
He also mentioned, “I didn’t prefer that they pay for it at the very last moment; instead, I made it clear, ‘This is exactly what they are purchasing.’
Nate isn’t making any predictions about the outcome either.
He explained to Jimmy Kimmel that the decision about how much or how little they will give rests with that room. He said it’s beyond his control, apologizing as he had a TV show to run through. Jimmy only has 45 seconds. Since he lost several times before, it will be intriguing.
This year, shows such as “Severance,” “The White Lotus,” “The Bear,” and “Hacks” (along with several others) are eagerly anticipating winning some of the major awards at tonight’s ceremony. For first-time host Nate, this event represents an opportunity to realize a long-cherished dream.
Initially, when I ventured into comedy, aspirations like ‘One day, I hope to host an award show’ were common. However, I didn’t fully comprehend the journey or how it might unfold. It surpassed my initial expectations greatly,” he shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
