Naz Reid is mourning the loss of his sister Toraya Reid.
In an heart-wrenching twist, I, a devoted fan, can’t help but share the tragic news that the NBA superstar’s 28-year-old sister was discovered on September 6th, in Jackson Township, New Jersey, outside an apartment building. Reports from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office reveal she was sadly taken from us due to gunshot wounds near the building exit. This devastating loss leaves me and fellow fans in deep mourning.
Law enforcement from Jackson Township rushed to the location following reports of gunfire and an unconscious woman on the roadside, according to a statement. Upon their arrival, they encountered a 29-year-old individual, later identified as Shaquille Green, fleeing down a nearby street. He was subsequently apprehended by authorities.
As an ardent admirer speaking, I can’t help but share the news that multiple agencies, including the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Jackson Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, have delved deep into the mystery surrounding Ms. Reid’s untimely demise. Their thorough investigation has unveiled that my heart ached for too long, Green – who shared an intimate bond with Ms. Reid – stands as the one accountable for this heartrending loss.
Shaq is currently held at the Ocean County jail, waiting for his detention hearing, and is being charged for offenses such as murder, illegally carrying a weapon, and unauthorized weapon possession – all linked to Toraya’s demise.
TopMob News has reached out to Shaquille’s lawyer for comment but has not heard back.
After the recent event, the Minnesota Timberwolves player honored his elder sister by posting a collection of old pictures on his Instagram Stories.
In the year 2023, the 26-year-old expressed her deep affection for him and their younger sibling, Jakahya Smith.
Naz shared with the Minneapolis-St. Paul magazine in December that his older sister is very watchful over us, acting like a parent. “Since I was the only boy,” he explained, “everyone was always keeping an eye on me because I played basketball in another city. As a result, they ensured I was alright.
Simultaneously, Jakahya publicly voiced her sorrow and fury on social platforms, labeling the suspected perpetrator as a “coward” and hoping that his family would never know the suffering she was enduring.
She expressed on Facebook on Sept. 6 that she always sends condolences to those in similar situations, but finds herself unexpectedly in such a position. On the way home, she hoped and prayed it was a cruel hoax, only to discover the truth. She feels repulsed, wounded, and above all furious. She acknowledges that she may never fully recover from this experience.
And in a second post, she made sure her sister would be remembered in her own right.
Let me make this clear: Once and for all. My sister’s name is Toraya Reid, not ‘the NBA star’s sibling.’ Please remember to show her the respect she deserves. If you can’t do that, then kindly refrain from mentioning her.
