Most of the major TV shows scheduled for 2025 have already finished their seasons, but it’s time to start looking forward to what’s coming in 2026. The Hunting Party will be back on NBC for a second season, marking its return since the first season ended in April. The show, starring Melissa Roxburgh (known for Manifest), will now air on Thursday nights. If you’re looking for something new to watch during the holiday break, the lead actress explains why anyone with a Peacock subscription should give The Hunting Party a try before Season 2 begins.
The first season of The Hunting Party features Nick Wechsler (known from Roswell), Patrick Sabongui and Sara Garcia (both from The Flash), and Josh McKenzie (La Brea). The show is a crime drama that follows Bex, a former FBI profiler played by Roxburgh, and her team as they hunt down dangerous criminals who’ve escaped from a secret government prison called “The Pit.” It’s not part of the Law & Order series, but a unique take on the procedural format.
Before Season 2, I talked with Melissa Roxburgh, who played a guest role on Tracker, and she suggested a way for new viewers to start watching the show.
This show delivers the serial killer drama you enjoy, but with a unique spin. The killers aren’t your typical villains – they’re quirky and unexpected, leading to moments where you’ll be surprised by their behavior. It takes a familiar formula and adds a slightly offbeat twist, making it different from what you usually see.
I won’t give away any plot details, but I wish I could have watched the first season as it originally aired on NBC in early 2025. Luckily, anyone discovering the show now can binge-watch it! While The Hunting Party might not be a cheerful holiday pick for Christmas Day (like Stranger Things isn’t either), most network shows won’t return until after Christmas. The second season, featuring Melissa Roxburgh as Bex, starts January 8th.
And with only ten episodes in the first season, it won’t take long to catch up – you can easily binge-watch it, or enjoy it at a relaxed pace. If you’re still unsure, check out the Season 1 trailer!
Popular shows like Boston Blue and Sheriff Country won’t return to CBS until later in the year, likely because of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, which run from February 6th to 22nd. CBS’s big new shows for 2026 won’t start until after the Olympics, with The Hunting Party expected to air the first four episodes of its second season before coverage shifts to NBC.
Don’t miss the Season 2 premiere of The Hunting Party on NBC, Thursday, January 8th at 10 p.m. Eastern! Even if you already watched Season 1 on Peacock, it’s a great time to tune in. The show has moved from Mondays and will now air right after new episodes of Law & Order: SVU, giving it a strong start on NBC.
