Netflix Confirms New One Piece Release Is Coming Next Week

I watched the premiere of Season 2 of the One Piece live-action series on Netflix on March 10th, 2026, and it was a big moment – it had been over two years since the first season! That first season was a massive hit, breaking all sorts of streaming records when it came out in August 2023 and becoming the most successful live-action adaptation ever. What was really surprising was how well-received it was, especially considering how often live-action adaptations of popular manga like Dragon Ball and Bleach have been criticized in the past. While this One Piece series does take some liberties with the original manga, it still captures the heart of the story, offering a really fresh take on the incredible world Eiichiro Oda built.

I’ve been really impressed with how much control Eiichiro Oda has over the live-action series – he’s involved in absolutely every aspect to make sure it’s done right. And there’s more to come! Netflix is planning a bonus series dropping on March 17th, 2026, after the second season premieres. From what I’ve read on What’s on Netflix, it’ll be a behind-the-scenes look at how they created the visuals, the stunts, and all the little hidden details fans love. But even before that, they released a six-episode podcast featuring interviews with the cast and Oda himself.

Netflix Debuts a Special One Piece Podcast After Season 2’s Success

Starting March 13th, Netflix released a six-part podcast series with interviews from the voice actors and creator Eiichiro Oda. Here’s a breakdown of each episode, including its title and who appears in it.

  • Episode 1: Loguetown, featuring Iñaki Godoy and Eiichiro Oda
  • Episode 2: Reverse Mountain, featuring Emily Rudd
  • Episode 3: Whisky Peak, featuring Mackenyu
  • Episode 4: Little Garden, Part 1, featuring Jacob Romero
  • Episode 5: Little Garden, Part 2 featuring Taz Skylar
  • Episode 6: Drum Island, featuring Charithra Chandran and Mikaela Hoover

The first episode of the live-action series features an appearance by Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the original manga, alongside Iñaki Godoy, who plays Monkey D. Luffy. They talk about the Loguetown Arc, an important part of the story that sets up future events and introduces key characters – elements that are still significant in the ongoing manga. Charithra Chandran, who plays Princess Vivi, and Mikaela Hoover, the voice of Tony Tony Chopper, also appear in the episode.

Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 Finale Sets Up The Alabasta Arc

The season concludes with a dramatic cliffhanger: Crocodile, a powerful member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, is plotting his next move. Meanwhile, the Straw Hat Pirates are heading to Alabasta to rescue Vivi’s kingdom. They’ll have to journey to the desert island and confront their strongest opponent yet to succeed.

Season three will expand on the Baroque Works organization, revealing Crocodile’s plans and why he needs Nico Robin. The season is set to completely cover the Alabasta Arc before the Straw Hats head to Sky Island. Good news for fans – it was produced at the same time as season two, meaning the wait for new episodes won’t be long.
