Netflix has announced that a new series based on Jo Nesbø’s Harry Hole novels will premiere next year.
The new nine-episode series, Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole, will premiere on the streaming service on Thursday, March 26, 2026. That’s just over three months away!
The first image from the upcoming series has been released, revealing Tobias Santelmann as the complex lead character, Harry Hole. He stars alongside Joel Kinnaman, known for his role in Peacemaker, who plays Tom Waaler, and Pia Tjelta as Rakel Fauke.
Jo Nesbø, the author, creator, and executive producer, announced the premiere date and released the first image of Tobias Santelmann as Harry Hole.

It’s been wonderful watching Tobias embody Harry, and it feels like a fresh start for the character. I can’t wait for everyone to see his interpretation and experience a really intense and unsettling story with us.
The Harry Hole series of books began in 1997 and continues with a new novel released in 2023. One book in the series, The Snowman, was made into a movie in 2017, featuring Michael Fassbender as Harry Hole, with Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Ronan Vibert, Val Kilmer, and JK Simmons also starring.
The new Netflix series, based on the work of bestselling crime writer Jo Nesbø, follows detective Harry Hole as he investigates a serial killer. While it’s a thrilling mystery, the show is also a complex character study of two police officers who are both partners and rivals, working in very different ways.
