It’s really annoying when streaming services don’t have every movie or show in a series – you’re stuck having to watch sequels without seeing the original! That’s been happening on Netflix recently with a popular horror series, but thankfully they’re adding the first movie next month.
Netflix is adding the original I Know What You Did Last Summer movie to its selection on Saturday, November 1st. It’s arriving a bit after Halloween, but fans of slasher films will be excited to have the first movie in the series available to stream.
In October, Netflix added both the sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, and this year’s new installment to its selection. This gave Netflix two movies from the series, but not the original I Know What You Did Last Summer – the new movie is a direct continuation of the first one. Fortunately, starting November 1st, Netflix subscribers will have access to all the films in the series.
Released in 1997, I Know What You Did Last Summer is a slasher film that followed the success of Scream. The story centers around a group of high school seniors who accidentally hit and kill a fisherman one night. They decide to keep it a secret, but a year later, they start receiving threatening notes, suggesting someone knows what happened.
The cast of I Know What You Did Last Summer was remarkably strong for 1997, featuring rising stars like Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe. Both Prinze Jr. and Hewitt later reprised their roles in the 1998 sequel and the more recent 2025 continuation of the story.
Coming to Netflix in November
At the beginning of November, Netflix is adding a bunch of movies, including I Know What You Did Last Summer. Other titles becoming available on the same day are Back to the Future, The Hangover, Game Night, and Ready Player One. You can find a complete list of movies being added on November 1st below.
Oh, I absolutely adore a good movie night, and this list is full of some of my favorites! I’m a huge fan of the Back to the Future trilogy – a classic! And Baby Driver? The soundtrack alone is enough to make me happy. I also really enjoyed Crazy Rich Asians and Paddington 2 – they’re just so charming. I’m a bit of a detective show buff too, so Broadchurch is a must-watch for me. Then there are fun ones like The Hangover and Game Night for a good laugh. I also loved the newer films like Wonka and Elvis. Honestly, this is a fantastic mix of comedy, drama, adventure, and just plain feel-good movies – perfect for any time of year!
