Good news for those waiting to stream the last DCEU film – it’s now available on Netflix! While it hasn’t cracked the Top 10 yet, many fans are thrilled to finally finish watching the entire DCEU series from the comfort of their homes.
While critics weren’t big fans of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, general audiences seemed to enjoy it more. In this sequel, Black Manta returns, now armed with the Black Trident – a powerful magical weapon. He’s determined to use it to unleash an ancient power and get what he wants. Aquaman realizes he needs help and reluctantly teams up with his brother, Orm, the former king of Atlantis. Despite their past conflicts, the two brothers must work together to save Atlantis and the world from a looming threat.
It Might Not Have Been Well Received By Critics, But Lost Kingdom Is Just Plain Fun
Let’s be honest, the DC Universe feels like it’s hit a wall – a point where a major overhaul is desperately needed. That’s what Shade Studios’ Alfred Casteneda pointed out to me, and after seeing Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, I have to agree. As James Preston Poole from The Cosmic Circus put it, this movie tries so hard to please everyone that it ends up appealing to no one. It’s a messy film, all over the place with its tone, its story is confusing, and frankly, it doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be.
Viewers generally seem to like the movie, praising its visuals and special effects. One person commented that while it might not be quite as good as the first Aquaman, it was very close and they always enjoy Jason Momoa in the role. They felt it was one of the better films in the DC Universe as that series winds down. Another viewer described The Lost Kingdom as a solid sequel, though it didn’t quite recapture the magic of the original. They highlighted the impressive visuals, a stronger villain in Black Manta, and the great chemistry between Aquaman and Orm as key strengths.
While Lost Kingdom isn’t likely to be a prize-winner, it’s an enjoyable, fast-paced movie that’s worth checking out – you might even want to watch it again!
