Over the years, Netflix has lost a lot of popular comedy shows. While it used to be the go-to place for shows like The Office and Friends, those moved to other streaming platforms. Now, Netflix is losing another beloved sitcom – all its seasons – leaving even fewer classic comedies available on the service.
Netflix will remove the show How I Met Your Mother on Wednesday, December 3rd. The popular series, which originally ran for nine seasons from 2005 to 2014 with a total of 208 episodes, will soon no longer be available on the streaming platform, so viewers have about a week left to finish watching it.
Netflix is noticeably shifting away from traditional sitcoms, with Seinfeld now being one of their few remaining highlights in that genre. Good news for fans of How I Met Your Mother: all seasons of the show are currently streaming on Hulu, so it remains easily accessible.
While How I Met Your Mother is a popular comedy ending its run on Netflix in December, it’s not necessarily the most notable show departing the platform that month.
Everything Leaving Netflix in December
As a big fan of TV, I’m a little bummed to hear about all the shows leaving Netflix next month, but the biggest loss for me is definitely Supernatural. I’ve been watching Sam and Dean Winchester’s adventures for years, and it’s hard to believe all 15 seasons will be gone on December 17th. It’s not just Supernatural though – Arrow and The 100, both great shows from The CW, are leaving at the same time. It feels like a real shift in what’s available to stream!
