Netflix Is About to Lose One of Its Best Family Movies (And Replace it With a New Remake)

Streaming services like Netflix constantly update their offerings, and November is bringing a fresh wave of changes. On November 1st, many new movies and TV shows will be added. However, October 31st is your last chance to watch a number of titles currently on Netflix before they’re removed. This month’s changes are particularly noteworthy, as a popular family film is being replaced with a newer remake.

This weekend, Netflix is losing both the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory from 1971, starring Gene Wilder, and Tim Burton’s version, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. However, a brand new movie continuing the story of Willy Wonka will be added to the service.

The popular movie musical Wonka, which was released in theaters less than two years ago, will be available to stream on Netflix starting November 1st. Timothée Chalamet’s take on Willy Wonka – along with the previous version starring Johnny Depp – will offer audiences the story of how the famous character and his chocolate factory came to be.

Despite some initial doubts about reimagining a young Willy Wonka, the 2023 film Wonka was a huge box office hit. Timothée Chalamet’s performance helped propel the movie to earn over $634 million worldwide, proving his status as a major star.

What’s Leaving Netflix?

Netflix is losing a lot of popular movies and shows this weekend. Besides Willy Wonka, viewers will also say goodbye to all the films in the Jurassic Park and Fast and Furious series.
