Don’t miss your chance to watch a fantastic sci-fi trilogy – often considered one of the best of the 21st century – before it disappears from Netflix next week. Netflix US has a great selection of classic sci-fi films like Dune, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, and The Terminator, many of which have become huge, ongoing franchises. This trilogy is another excellent addition, but it won’t be available on the service much longer.
Based on the popular books by James Dashner, The Maze Runner movies—released in 2014, 2015, and 2018—have been available to stream on Netflix since October 2025. However, the entire trilogy—The Maze Runner, The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and The Maze Runner: The Death Cure—will be removed from Netflix on January 9, 2026. If you’re in the United States, now is the time to watch or re-watch all three Maze Runner films on Netflix before they’re gone.
Why You Should Watch The Maze Runner Trilogy on Netflix Now

Released in 2014, The Maze Runner was a hit with both critics and audiences, especially young viewers, thanks to its themes of courage, teamwork, and facing difficult challenges. The film centers on Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), a teenager who finds himself in a complex maze with other young people, including Teresa (Kaya Scodelario). Together, they try to escape while also creating a community. Like The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner presents a bleak, futuristic world seen through the eyes of its youthful cast.
I really enjoyed The Maze Runner and thought the sequels, The Scorch Trials and The Death Cure, built on that world and the whole mystery around WCKD, even if they weren’t as well-received by critics. It’s a shame the series ended after only three films – I think the story and characters suffered a bit in those later movies. But honestly, I think you really need to watch all three Maze Runner films together to get the full story. And heads up – they’re only available on Netflix in the US for a few more days, so now’s the time to binge them!
Although the original Maze Runner story has ended, the franchise isn’t over. A new movie is in development that will both continue and reboot the series. Jack Paglen (known for his work on Transcendence and Alien: Covenant) is writing the script, and Wes Ball, who directed the previous films, will return as a producer. The new movie will build on what fans loved about the earlier films while introducing a new story, new characters, and potentially a fresh take on the maze itself, drawing on unused ideas from the books. This is likely why the Maze Runner movies are being removed from Netflix – it’s a sign of exciting things to come for the franchise.
