Netflix Just Added the First 18 Episodes of One of NBC’s Best New Sitcoms (& It’s Packed With Nostalgic Reunions)

NBC has a long history of producing successful sitcoms. Starting with its popular Thursday night lineup in the mid-1980s – featuring shows like Family Ties, Cheers, and Night Court – and continuing through the 2010s with hits like The Good Place and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, NBC has consistently been a leader in the comedy genre. The network continues this tradition today with several new and talked-about shows, including a recent sitcom now available on Netflix. Plus, fans of a beloved classic series can look forward to some exciting cast reunions.

Reba McEntire, best known for her popular early 2000s sitcom Reba, recently returned to television with Happy’s Place. The show premiered on NBC in October 2024 and has become a reliable performer for the network, currently ranking as its ninth most-watched program with over 2.8 million viewers as of March 2026. Now in its second season, all 18 episodes of Happy’s Place‘s first season are available for streaming on Netflix, having been added on April 1st. The show features fun reunions with cast members from McEntire’s previous sitcom and stars her as Bobbie, who inherits a tavern in Knoxville, Tennessee, only to find out she must co-own it with a newly discovered half-sister.

NBC’s Happy’s Place Is a Spiritual Successor to Reba

Though not a continuation of Reba, Happy’s Place definitely feels like it captures the heart of the beloved early 2000s sitcom. While the new show centers more on the relationships between coworkers than on raising a family – and the main character isn’t immediately a mother like Reba – it successfully recreates the cozy, familiar style of the original. As creator Abby Abbott explained, they intentionally aimed to bring back the feeling of Reba. Happy’s Place does this by blending humor with touching moments, and using the tavern as a central, welcoming gathering place, much like the kitchen was in Reba.

Fans of the show Reba can look forward to more than just seeing Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman together again in Happy’s Place – their great chemistry really helps create a warm, family-like feeling on the show. The series, created by Kevin and Julie Abbott, is bringing back several actors from Reba for on-screen appearances. Steve Howey, who played Van Montgomery, appeared in Season 1’s “Ho-Ho-Howey” as a rich businessman and even made a subtle reference to Reba. Chris Rich, known as Brock Hart from the original sitcom, also had a cameo in Season 1’s “Sisters Ink.” The reunions continued into Season 2 with JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who played McEntire’s TV daughter, guest starring in “Social Discontent.”

What’s New on Netflix?

Besides the new series Happy’s Place, Netflix added a lot of content in April. Other additions included the first season of St. Denis Medical, plus popular movies like Along Came Polly, Madagascar, and several films from the Mission: Impossible franchise.
