As a huge Christmas movie fan, I always check what Hallmark is offering, since they really own that space. But Netflix has definitely been trying to become a big player in holiday films too, especially in recent years. Some years they release a ton of originals, and even in quieter years, you can always count on at least one big Christmas movie from them around November or December. Last year, I remember *Hot Frosty* and *The Merry Gentlemen* getting a lot of attention. But this year, it seems like Netflix is really going all-in on *A Merry Little Ex-Mas* – they’re really promoting it!
Alicia Silverstone stars in Netflix’s new Christmas romantic comedy, *A Merry Little Ex-Mas*, which premieres November 12th. The movie follows a mom whose holiday is disrupted when her ex-husband introduces his new girlfriend to their children. Netflix just released the first trailer, so you can get a sneak peek!
Hayden Panettiere stars in *A Merry Little Ex-Mas* with Oliver Hudson playing her ex-husband. Jameela Jamil, known for *The Good Place*, plays Hudson’s new girlfriend. The movie also features Pierson Fodé, Wilder Hudson, Emily Hall, Timothy Innes, and Melissa Joan Hart.
Melissa Joan Hart not only stars in *A Merry Little Ex-Mas*, but she also helped produce it alongside Paula Hart. Steve Carr, who directed films like *Daddy Day Care* and *Paul Blart: Mall Cop*, directed the movie, and Holly Hester, known for her work on *Sabrina the Teenage Witch*, wrote the script.
In the new movie *A Merry Little Ex-Mas*, Kate (Alicia Silverstone), who is recently divorced, wants to have one last wonderful Christmas with her family before she sells her house. However, her plans get complicated when her ex-husband, Everett (Oliver Hudson), surprisingly brings home a new girlfriend who is both younger and more successful.
Christmas on Netflix
Netflix is kicking off its holiday season with the new film *A Merry Little Ex-Mas*, and it has more original Christmas movies and shows planned before December 25th.
Netflix is releasing a new holiday film called *Jingle Bell Heist* on November 26th. The movie stars Olivia Holt and Connor Swindells as a pair of thieves who reluctantly team up to pull off a Christmas Eve robbery at a London department store.
I’m really excited for this one! On December 3rd, Netflix is releasing a new rom-com called *My Secret Santa*. It stars Alexandra Breckenridge, who I love from *Virgin River*, and also features Ryan Egged, Tia Mowry, and Diana Maria Riva. I can’t wait to check it out!
