Everyone’s talking about films like Wake Up Dead Man and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein this fall, but don’t sleep on a new movie coming to Netflix. It’s actually a pretty big deal – it’s the sequel to one of Netflix’s most popular original films! They just released a trailer, giving us a first look at the wild action coming soon.
I was totally blown away by Roar Uthaug’s Troll when it came out in 2022 – it became the most-watched non-English movie on Netflix, and unbelievably, it still holds that record after three years! I’m so excited because the sequel, Troll 2, is finally dropping on December 1st, and the trailers look absolutely amazing. Seriously, check it out!
The first trailer for the movie appeared on Tuesday morning, just under six weeks before Netflix releases Troll 2. This time, the story is grander, featuring a massive creature called a “Megatroll” that’s awakened in Norway. This forces the heroes to team up with one of the legendary giants, despite their differences.
The sequel is going to be much more ambitious and larger in scope than the original. In fact, Troll 2 is the most expensive film ever made in the Nordic countries, and it’s set to deliver even more excitement than the first one.
A terrifying troll has awakened in Norway, causing widespread destruction. Now, popular heroes Nora, Andreas, and Captain Kris are on their most dangerous mission yet: stopping the creature’s relentless attack. They’ll need to team up with new friends and explore Norway’s past to find a way to defeat it. With time running out and the troll’s destruction increasing, they face overwhelming challenges as they try to save their country from ruin.
The original director of Troll is bringing back the stars of the first movie – Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen – for Troll 2. The original writer, Espen Aukan, also wrote the script for the sequel.
Because the first Troll movie was so popular, and Troll 2 is coming out only three years later, it’s likely the sequel will be even more successful on Netflix when it’s released in December. While other films competing for attention might present a challenge, don’t be shocked if Troll 2 becomes Netflix’s most popular non-English language movie, surpassing the original Troll.
