
The second season of the popular anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End premiered this month as part of the Winter 2026 season. The first season, which aired in 2023, was a huge hit with fans and even surpassed Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood to become the highest-rated anime of all time on MyAnimeList. Viewers were immediately drawn in by the show’s beautiful animation, compelling story, and memorable characters. Season 2 is off to a strong start, currently holding the top spot on MyAnimeList and also ranking number one in Japan on Netflix.
Currently, the anime is available on Netflix in some parts of Asia, but fans in the U.S. can watch it on Crunchyroll. New episodes of Season 2 are released every Friday at 7:00 AM Pacific Time, soon after they air in Japan. These are the subtitled versions; an English dub hasn’t been announced yet. Season 2 is scheduled for 10 episodes, and there are no plans for another part confirmed at this time. The anime also gained significant traction, appearing in Netflix’s top 10 non-English shows with 1.4 million views worldwide. Even with limited regional access, it’s proving very popular, ranking alongside Season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen on global charts.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Continues The Epic Journey

Season two begins after Frieren and her companions leave Äußerst following Fern’s successful completion of the First Class Mage Exam. With Fern now qualified, the group can continue their journey north, where they’ll face even greater dangers. Although this season is shorter than anticipated, it’s expected to cover the Continued Northern Travels and Divine Revolte arcs from the original source material.
The anime has released its first two episodes. The first episode centers around Stark and the girls noticing he seems troubled. He quickly clarifies that he’s happy to be traveling with them and made the decision himself. The second episode introduces a famous hero from the South, once considered the strongest. He could see the future and knew that Himmel, along with Frieren and the rest of their group, would ultimately bring peace to the world.
He predicted his own death and met Frieren before Himmel asked her to join his team. Though he died fighting the Demon King and his Seven Sages, his efforts were vital in creating an opportunity for Himmel’s group to succeed. The story will continue with new characters and reunions with Frieren’s past companions. While Netflix USA hasn’t announced a release date yet, you can currently watch the first season on the platform.
