Netflix Quietly Adds The Latest Transformers Live-Action Movie (& It Deserves a Second Chance)

As a Transformers enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the latest Transformers movie has recently sneaked onto Netflix, providing another opportunity for it to prove itself after its initial release two years ago. Although the Transformers series by Michael Bay has consistently pulled in significant box office numbers throughout the years, the films have been met with a mixed-to-negative reception from both audiences and critics. However, with Steven Caple Jr. at the helm for the latest movie, it’s become one of the highest-rated entries in the franchise. So, its appearance on Netflix could mark a fresh start for this action-packed series.

First shown in cinemas on June 9, 2023, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” made its way to Netflix streaming in the U.S. on August 25, 2025. In this movie, we journey back to 1994, where a former military electronics expert named Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos) and artifact researcher Elena Wallace (Dominique Fishback) work together with the Autobots and Maximals to safeguard the enigmatic Transwarp Key from harmful Terrorcons. Unlike Michael Bay’s “Transformers” films, “Rise of the Beast” drew inspiration from the “Beast Wars” sub-series, which proved advantageous due to its separation.

Why Does Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Deserve a Second Chance?

In a somewhat unexpected turn for the Transformers film franchise, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” didn’t claim the top spot in box office earnings, earning a total of $441.7 million worldwide against a production budget of $200 million. However, it stands among the highest-rated films in the series. Despite this rating not setting an incredibly high standard, Rotten Tomatoes has given it a 51% approval rating, making it the second-best film in the franchise, trailing behind the original Transformers from 2007 with its 57% score. The movie’s unique storyline, departure from the main narrative, and references to some of the best aspects of the first five films have earned it a case for redemption within the series.

It’s not the first time that the movie “Rise of the Beasts” has been streamed on Netflix. In fact, in 2024, it reached the #6 position on Netflix’s movie chart with over 5.2 million views during its initial week on the platform. We can only speculate about its success this time around. The film boasts outstanding performances from Ramos and Fishback, along with the voice talents of Peter Cullen, Ron Perlman, Michelle Yeoh, Peter Dinklage, Colman Domingo, and others, making it one of the most high-profile and impressive entries in the franchise to date.

What Other Transformers Movies Are Available to Stream On Netflix?

As a die-hard Transformers fan, I’m excited to share that “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” has joined the lineup of Transformers movies you can stream on Netflix in the US. If you haven’t seen 2018’s “Bumblebee,” directed by Travis Knight, it’s unfortunately not on Netflix – but fear not! You can catch it on Paramount+ instead. On the brighter side, all of Michael Bay’s Transformers movies are readily available on Netflix for your streaming pleasure. Additionally, a variety of animated Transformers series are also streaming on Netflix, so you’ve got plenty of time to catch up on some thrilling Autobot action before diving into “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”!

The 2007 film, Transformers, features two extraterrestrial factions, the Autobots and Decepticons, locked in an epic and intense conflict on Earth. The Autobots recruit a teenage boy named Sam to aid them in their struggle against the Decepticons.

In the movie “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” (2009), Sam yearns for a typical college life, but keeps experiencing mysterious visions of Cybertronian symbols. Simultaneously, an ancient enemy gathers the remaining Decepticons to exact vengeance for their previous defeat.

As a die-hard movie buff, let me share my take on “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” (2011). In this epic adventure, I find myself alongside the Autobots on a mission to uncover their long-lost leader, Sentinel Prime. The stakes are high as we also unearth a groundbreaking invention that could potentially bring an end to the relentless war between us and the Decepticons. However, the heart-pounding twist comes when we realize, to our utter dismay, that we’ve been deceived by our enemies, plunging us deeper into conflict than ever before.

Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) – Sentient robots from Cybertron, known as Autobots, find assistance from Cade Yeager, a struggling inventor, along with a group of humans, against a bounty hunter and an elite CIA black ops team looking to capture them.

2017’s movie Transformers: The Last Knight – Quintessa manipulates Optimus Prime and ventures to Earth in pursuit of an ancient staff she possesses. Cade, Bumblebee, along with the Autobots, are in a rush against time to locate it while simultaneously evading a hostile faction against Transformers.

Transformers: Emergence of the Maximals (2023) – Optimus Prime, alongside the Autobots, join forces with a struggling young scholar, who harbors dreams of being a historian, to confront an ominous extraterrestrial force that endangers Earth and humanity. The menacing force is none other than the Maximals’ adversaries, who are poised to wreak havoc on our planet.
