Netflix & Shawn Levy Team up for New Video Game Movie Adaptation

Netflix is creating a movie based on the upcoming video game, Kingmakers. They’re working with producer Shawn Levy and his production company, 21 Laps, on the project. This adds to Netflix’s growing collection of films and shows adapted from video games and continues their partnership with Levy.

Movie based on Kingmakers video game in works at Netflix

Netflix has bought the rights to turn the strategy game Kingmakers into a feature film, according to Deadline. Christopher MacBride will write the screenplay. Netflix worked with 21 Laps and Story Kitchen to secure the project and quickly finalize the deal.

Although the exact story of the movie hasn’t been revealed, the game’s basic premise gives us a good idea of what to expect. The game, called Kingmakers, is set in medieval Britain during a time of war. It centers around a soldier who goes back in time with a powerful collection of modern weapons – everything from rifles to vehicles – to change the past and stop a future disaster. The game is known for its huge, realistic battles, and the movie will likely try to capture that same epic scale.

Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy L. Stevenson from Story Kitchen. Emily Feher at 21 Laps and Elena Sandoval at Story Kitchen are keeping everything running smoothly during development.
