Netflix Subscribers Have Just Days Left Before the Streamer Loses One of Its Best Sci-Fi Movies

Netflix is removing a lot of movies and shows this Halloween weekend to make room for new content arriving on November 1st. While there are some exciting new additions coming on Saturday, it doesn’t quite balance out the loss of everything leaving, especially a highly-rated and popular science fiction film.

Along with titles like The Fast and the Furious and Jurassic Park, Netflix is removing the sci-fi favorite Starship Troopers. The 1997 film, directed by Paul Verhoeven, has gained a dedicated following over the years, and many fans will be sad to see it go after being available on the streaming service for a while.

When Starship Troopers first came out, it wasn’t a hit with audiences or critics. However, over time, people have started to appreciate it much more. Its clever satire and futuristic style now seem surprisingly modern and forward-thinking.

This new movie takes place in the 23rd century and centers on a team of young soldiers fighting an alien war. When Starship Troopers came out in the 1990s, many people thought it showed government and military power in a negative light. However, in recent years, viewers have begun to recognize and appreciate the film’s use of satire.

Good news for fans of Starship Troopers: even though it’s leaving Netflix at the end of the week, the movie will still be easy to watch! It’s moving to Paramount+, where it will be available immediately after it disappears from Netflix.

What Else Is Leaving Netflix?

Okay, so I just saw the list of movies leaving Netflix in November, and it’s a bit of a bummer! It’s not just Starship Troopers disappearing – a lot of really good ones are going. We’re talking Jurassic Park, Shrek, The Fast and the Furious, Despicable Me, Happy Gilmore, and even Sherlock Holmes! Definitely need to squeeze in some viewings before they‘re gone.
