The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has become a massive success, earning more money than any other film franchise since it began in 2008 and launching the careers of many of its actors. While known for playing superheroes, these stars also work on other films and shows. Fans interested in seeing what else a particular Marvel actor has been up to should know that a psychological thriller they starred in – which received mixed reviews – is leaving Netflix soon.
Florence Pugh gained fame playing Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but quickly showed her range by starring in Olivia Wilde’s 2022 film, Don’t Worry Darling. In the movie, Pugh plays a housewife who starts to realize something is terribly wrong with the seemingly perfect town she lives in. The film, which also features Harry Styles, Gemma Chan, and Chris Pine, earned $87 million globally and will be removed from Netflix on January 1st.
Don’t Worry Darling Holds an Unfortunate Record for Florence Pugh
Despite boasting a famous cast, a well-respected director, and an intriguing story, Don’t Worry Darling failed to live up to expectations after its release. Critics largely disliked the film, and it currently stands as Florence Pugh’s lowest-rated movie, with a 38% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Critics generally found Don’t Worry Darling to be visually appealing but lacking in substance. Candice Frederick of HuffPost called it “hollow and disappointing,” while Sammie Purcell from Rough Draft Atlanta criticized its confusing and underdeveloped exploration of themes like womanhood and toxic masculinity. Despite Florence Pugh’s strong performance, the film didn’t live up to its potential, leaving many viewers feeling that it lacked depth and a satisfying conclusion. Ultimately, the movie seemed to prioritize style over a meaningful story.
Viewers generally liked the film. While Don’t Worry Darling didn’t rank among Florence Pugh’s top 10 movies based on audience scores, it still received a strong positive response, becoming her twelfth highest-rated film. People especially enjoyed the beautiful visuals, Pugh’s powerful acting, and the movie’s captivating mystery.
Where to Stream Don’t Worry Darling After It Leaves Netflix?
Streaming availability is always changing, and right now, Don’t Worry Darling is about to leave Netflix. As of January 1st, it won’t be available on any other major streaming service. While it might return to streaming platforms eventually, for now, the only ways to watch the movie will be by buying a physical copy or renting or buying it digitally.
